Grimsby Ended League Two in Good Form

Grimsby secured the final League Two play-off spot after a positive end to the campaign. The Mariners won seven of their final 10 fixtures and secured seventh place.

David Artell’s outfit went unbeaten in their final four games, starting with wins against Gillingham 4-1, Cambridge 2-1 and Swindon 4-0. Grimsby had 1.38 XG or more in each victory.

The Lincolnshire side gave up a 1-0 lead and drew 1-1 at Tranmere on the final day of the season. Justin Amaluzor scored just before half time and Grimsby conceded with 26 minutes left.

Salford Rarely Lose

Karl Robinson’s Salford finished fourth in the League Two table and missed out on automatic promotion by one point. The Ammies maintained their promotion challenge after losing just two of their previous 12 league games.

The Greater Manchester team's only recent defeat was a 1-0 loss at Crewe. Salford replied with a 0-0 draw with Gillingham and consecutive wins against Oldham 2-1 and Bromley 2-0.

The Ammies were held to a goalless draw away against Crawley in their last game. Robinson's side controlled the contest with 2.51 XG and 17 shots but couldn't net the winning goal.
