Punjab vs Mumbai City Live Stream & Tips - Punjab Backed to Score ISL Victory

Punjab, riding high after six wins and three straight home victories, are poised to edge Mumbai City in a closely fought ISL clash at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium. While Mumbai City recently bounced back with a 4-0 win over Mohammedan, both teams have seen low-scoring games as the norm. History slightly favors Mumbai, but Punjab’s current form and solid defense make them favorites. Expect under 2.5 total goals, while Punjab are tipped to secure another home win.

Punjab vs Mumbai City Predictions

Punjab are in solid form, and they can edge to victory in a potentially low-scoring ISL encounter.

I have stakes on under 2.5 goals and a home win at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium.

Low-Scoring Home Win on the Cards

  • Punjab won their last 3 home matches
  • Punjab have seen under 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 7 matches
  • Mumbai City have seen under 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 5 away matches
  • Mumbai City lost 2 of their last 4 matches

Mumbai Edge Punjab in H2H Record

Punjab and Mumbai City have met on five previous occasions. Mumbai won three of those matches, while Punjab secured one victory.

Punjab Extend Unbeaten Run

Punjab return to Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium.after an entertaining 3-2 win at Odisha last Saturday. Bede Amarachi Osuji's 89th-minute goal put Panagiotis Dilberis's side in front before Dani Ramirez's stoppage-time goal put the seal on the points.

The Shers were worthy winners at Kalinga Stadium. Dilberis's men controlled the second half with 62% possession, while they outshot the hosts 20 to 6 and finished with a strong xG tally of 1.7.

A solid run of form has seen the home side pick up six wins, including each of their last three home fixtures, while losing just one of their 11 last ISL matches.

Before conceding twice in last week's win at Odisha, a strong Punjab defence had kept clean sheets in four previous ISL fixtures.

Approaching the midway point of the Super League season, the Shers sit fourth in the table, just one point behind league leaders East Bengal.

Mumbai City Blast Mohammedan

Mumbai City remain on their travels after a comfortable 4-0 win against ISL strugglers Mohammedan last Friday. Early goals from Sahil Panwar (1') and Zothanpuia (8') ensured a straightforward evening for the Islanders.

Peter Kratky's men dominated the contest at Salt Lake Stadium, with total shots (18-8) and xG figures of 2.34 to 0.39 underlining their superiority in Kolkata.

The Islanders had endured a sticky spell of form, failing to win four successive ISL fixtures before their weekend win against Mohammedan.

High-scoring outcomes have been infrequent for the visitors. An average of exactly two goals per game have been scored in the visitors' last 12 ISL encounters.

Kratky's side sit fifth in the division, behind Punjab on goal difference.

Predicted Lineups and Team News

Punjab (4-2-3-1) Arshdeep Singh; Khaimin Lhungdim, Bijoy Varghese, Pramveer, Muhammed Uvais; Samir Zeljkovic, Ricky John Shabong; Manglenthang Kipgen, Dani Ramirez, Bede Osuji; Nsungusi Effiong

Punjab boss Dilberis is likely to make at least one change to his first XI on Thursday. Manglenthang Kipgen is tipped to earn a recall after a goalscoring substitute appearance against Odisha.

Muhammad Suhail F remains sidelined with a shoulder injury.

Mumbai City (4-2-3-1) TP Rehenesh; Valpuia, Nuno Reis, Sahil Panwar, Akash Mishra; Joni Kauko, Zothanpuia; Lallianzuala Chhangte, Jorge Ortiz, Brandon Fernandes; Vikram Partap Singh

Mumbai City boss Kratky is likely to retain confidence in the same side that eased past Mohammedan. The visitors have no reported injury issues.

Verdict

Punjab could get the better of a likely tight and hard-fought ISL encounter this week. I fancy under 2.5 goals scored, while I also like the hosts to claim the spoils on Thursday.
