Fenerbahce's defensive issues were on full display last week against Aston Villa, and similar problems are expected in their upcoming match against Slavia. Slavia's strong chance creation adds to the likelihood that both teams will score. The article recommends ‘Both Teams To Score’ (BTTS) as the best bet for this game, reflecting anticipated defensive vulnerabilities from Fenerbahce and Slavia’s attacking prowess.

Slavia Prague deserved more from the opening two games, losing to Lens 3-2 in stoppage time while missing an absurd number of chances last week in Baku. Fenerbahce struggle defensively, so goals are likely on Tuesday.

Key Stats

  • Fenerbahce have seen over 2.5 goals in their last 4 matches.
  • Fenerbahce have seen BTTS & over 2.5 goals in their last 3 matches against Slavia Prague.
  • Slavia Prague have scored in 17 of their last 18 away matches.

Slavia Lead H2H

This is going to be the 4th time Fenerbahce and Slavia Prague lock horns, the Czech side winning two times, while the Yellow Canaries won the most recent meeting in 2024.

Fenerbahce Got Humiliated in Birmingham Last Week

After a solid UCL start (1-1 home draw against Roma), Fenerbahce were demolished last week by Aston Villa 6-0 in England, allowing 3.11 xG and 11 shots on target to the opposition.

The Yellow Canaries returned from the international break with a 3-0 road victory against Rizespor where the home side missed three big chances and fired 19 shots total.

Ismail Kartal’s side kept on winning in the Super Lig last weekend, outplaying Alanyaspor 3-0 in front of the home crowd. Karem Akturkoglu played the key role here with one goal and one assist, Romelu Lukaku and Vedat Muriqi also on target.

Slavia Desperate for Points

After a dramatic 3-2 home loss in the UCL opening round, Slavia Prague were tagged as favorites against Sabah Baku in Azerbaijan last week, but they were punished for their wastefulness in front of goal and lost 2-0.

The Czech side recorded 2.14 xG compared to Sabah’s 1.34, enjoyed 55% possession and had an 8-6 advantage in shots on target. Tomas Chory missed three big chances, while Lukas Provod missed two.

Their efficiency problems continued in the Czech First League last weekend, their home game against Hradec Kralove ending 0-0, failing to convert any of 24 shots while Chory was sent off in the 51st minute.

Team News & Predicted Lineups

Fenerbahce (4-2-3-1) Ederson; Nelson Semedo, Milan Skriniar, Nathan Ake, Archie Brown; Matteo Guendouzi, N'Golo Kante; Mason Greenwood, Irfan Can Kahveci, Oguz Aydin; Vedat Muriqi

Fenerbahce enter the fixture managing defensive absentees, as Jayden Oosterwolde and Mert Muldur remain sidelined through injury, while Marco Asensio and Amara Diouf carry physical doubts.

Slavia Prague (4-2-3-1) Jakub Markovic; Tomas Holes, David Zima, Jean-Manuel N'Guessan, Tomas Vlcek; Divine Moses, Lukas Sadilek; Bright Ayaosi, Lukas Provod, Daniel Sturm; Tomas Chory

The visiting side will be without injured Stepan Chaloupek, Igoh Ogbu, Adonija Ouanda, David Jurasek, Ivan Schranz, and Elias Pitak.

Verdict

Fenerbahce’s back line looked disastrous last week against Aston Villa and I expect their defensive problems to continue on Tuesday against Slavia who create a lot of chances. BTTS is the best bet here.
