FK Liepaja travels to Dedic for the second leg of their UEFA Conference League first-round qualifier, holding a slim 1-0 lead from the first match. Dedic, unbeaten in six of their last eight home games but defensively vulnerable, will look to turn things around against a Liepaja side that struggles away from home. Both teams often concede but possess attacking threats, promising an open, exciting contest. Expect line-ups to remain consistent, with Liepaja forced into one defensive change due to suspension.

The UEFA Conference League trophy (UEFA)

FK Liepaja will be looking to build on a 1-0 lead when they travel to Dedic for the second leg of their UEFA Conference League first-round qualifier.

The clash remains slightly in the balance, and with both teams fancying their chances of getting a result here, an open contest is expected.

Key Stats

  • Dedic have conceded in eight of their last 10 matches in all competitions.
  • Dedic have scored in five of their last seven home matches in all competitions.
  • FK Liepaja have conceded in seven of their last 10 matches in all competitions.
  • Dedic have scored in three of their last four matches in all competitions.

One Previous Meeting

Last week's first-leg clash is the only previous meeting between Desic and FK Liepaja.

Dedic Counting on Home Form

Dedic came away from the first leg feeling like they should have gotten a result. Nebojsa Jandrich’s team dominated possession and had several attempts on goal but lacked the cutting edge in attack.

That result means Dedic have now picked up just three wins from their last 10 matches in all competitions. They will be hoping for some better fortune at home, having gone unbeaten in six of their last eight matches in front of their fans.

Dedic have struggled to keep things tight at the back lately, failing to produce a clean sheet in eight of their last 10 matches in all competitions. However, they often show some attacking quality at home and have scored in five of their last seven fixtures in front of their fans.

FK Liepaja Keen to Improve

Ede Oloko’s second-half effort proved the difference as Liepaja claimed a 1-0 victory last week. They overcame a first-half red card to Marvin Martins and put up a disciplined performance to secure the win.

Despite that result, things have not been particularly smooth for Liepaja, who have won two and lost five of their last seven matches in all competitions.

Andreas Alm’s team are also poor travellers and have lost seven of their last eight away matches, including a 1-0 defeat to Auda in a domestic fixture last weekend.

Liepaja often struggle to keep things tight at the back and have scored in seven of their last 10 matches in all competitions. However, they possess quality going forward and have scored in three of their last four matches.

Team News and Predicted Line-ups

Dedic (4-3-3): Danilo Radosevic; Jonathan Dresaj, Leon Ujkaj, Nikola Braunovic, Lazar Maras; Petar Pavlicevic, Aleksa Cetkovic, Davor Kontic; Balsa Radusinovic, Uros Djuranovic, Mario Gjolaj.

Dedic have a fully fit squad heading to the second leg and are unlikely to make changes. Ujkaj and Braunovic should continue their central defensive partnership, while Djuranovic will be tasked with leading the line once again.

FK Liepaja (4-2-3-1): Davis Oss; Andrii Korobenko, Vladislavs Sorokins, Ilja Korotkovs, Bart Straalman; Ekou Rodolphe, Leonel Strumia; Amar Haidara, Kyvon Leidsman, Fellipe Vieira; Ede Oloko.

Martins is suspended for Liepaja after picking up a red card in the first leg. Sorokins is likely to come in at centre-back as he did in the first meeting, while Oloko should lead the line once again after netting the winner last time out.

Verdict

FK Liepaja may hold the first-leg lead, but the tie is far from settled, with both teams still in with a chance of progressing.

Both sides are likely to come all out on Wednesday and could serve up an open contest here.
