Wrexham face a crucial Championship clash against Middlesbrough, needing three points to secure a play-off place. The match at the Racecourse Ground is anticipated to be open and high-scoring, aligning with betting predictions of both teams scoring and more than 2.5 goals in the game. Further action is suggested on over 3.5 goals. The recommendation is to back a goal-fest, as Wrexham strive to seal their play-off position in style.

Wrexham have a 2-1 advantage against Middlesbrough, alongside one draw.

Wrexham Seeking a Championship Play-Off Spot

Wrexham are sixth in the Championship with one game remaining. They lead seventh-place Hull on goal difference and can finish in the top six with three more points.

The Red Dragons’ play-off hopes took a hit after a three-match winless run in early April. A 2-2 draw at West Brom was followed by defeats against Southampton 5-1 and Birmingham 2-0.

Phil Parkinson’s side hit back with a 2-0 home victory against Stoke and a 1-0 away win at Oxford. Wrexham had over 1.25 XG in both games and Josh Windass scored all three goals.

The Welsh outfit couldn’t maintain their winning form and lost 3-1 against top of the table Coventry. Ollie Rathbone cancelled out Coventry’s opener and Wrexham conceded twice in the final 15 minutes.

Middlesbrough Challenging for Automatic Promotion

Middlesbrough are fourth in the Championship and have an outside chance of reaching the top two. Boro can secure automatic promotion if they win and Millwall and Ipswich lose on Saturday.

Kim Hellberg’s side were battling for the Championship title before an eight-match winless run. The Teesside outfit drew five, lost three and conceded nine during that streak.

Boro returned to form and secured a top-six finish with back-to-back victories. Their mini winning run started with a 1-0 home victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

Middlesbrough then thrashed Watford 5-1 at home. Morgan Whittaker, David Strelec and Tommy Conway scored as Boro dominated with 2.3XG and 20 shots.

Defenders Alfie Jones and Darragh Lenihan are injured and won’t feature.

Hayden Hackney has been ruled out of the Wrexham game due to a long-term calf issue. Kim Hellberg gave a pre-match update on the midfielder and said, "He's going forward but he will not play in this game.

"That's what I can say. But it's going forward, so that's some positive news.

Verdict

Wrexham and Middlesbrough cannot afford to sit back as both sides have something to play for here. An open game is expected in the Championship and goals are likely at the Racecourse Ground.
