The 2026 PGA Championship will be played at Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania, marking its first hosting since 1962. Defending champion Scottie Scheffler leads a top field, but several challengers stand out based on recent form. Cameron Young, Ludvig Aberg, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Patrick Reed all enter with strong credentials and recent wins or high finishes, making them key contenders for the Wanamaker Trophy. Each of these four players is tipped as potential winners given their consistency and momentum, with Young and Aberg especially overdue for major success.

The 2026 PGA Championship is the second golf major of the year and takes place at Aronimink Golf Club. Who will lift the Wanamaker Trophy come Sunday?

Aronimink hosts the tournament for the first time since 1962 and it will feature a star-studded field of the world's best players in Pennsylvania.

Scottie Scheffler is favourite with top bookmakers and returns to defend his title after a five-stroke victory over Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English and Davis Riley in 2025.

These are our four selections that could win the PGA Championship this weekend.

Cameron Young

Cameron Young had a slow beginning to his season on the PGA Tour, finishing T22 at the Farmers Insurance Open, T41 at the WM Phoenix Open, and T55 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

However, Young has been in sublime form since, securing a T7 at the Genesis Invitational, a T3 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, a victory at the Players Championship, a T3 at the Masters, a T25 at the RBC Heritage, a victory at the Cadillac Championship, and a T10 at the Truist Championship last weekend.

The American has made four appearances at the PGA Championship, finishing T3 in 2022, MC in 2023, T63 in 2024, and T47 in 2025.

Young has found that winning touch this season and can win his maiden Major at the Aronimink Golf Club this weekend.

Ludvig Aberg

Ludvig Aberg lacked consistency at the start of his season on the PGA Tour, withdrawing from the American Express, missing the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open before finishing T37 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and T20 at the Genesis Invitational.

However, Aberg has been in excellent form during the past two months, placing T3 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T5 at the Players Championship, T5 at the Valero Texas Open, T21 at the Masters, T4 at the RBC Heritage, and T8 at the Truist Championship last weekend.

The Swede has yet to make an impact at the PGA Championship, missing the cut in 2024 and 2025.

Aberg has been ultra-consistent lately and will look to cap off his recent performances by lifting the Wanamaker Trophy come Sunday.

Matt Fitzpatrick

Matt Fitzpatrick was in solid form during the opening five events of his PGA Tour season, finishing T63 at the American Express, 9th at the WM Phoenix Open, T14 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, T24 at the Genesis Invitational, and T41 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Fitzpatrick has been in outstanding form since those performances, recording a 2nd at the Players Championship, a victory at the Valspar Championship, a T18 at the Masters, a victory at the RBC Heritage, a victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans before finishing T52 at the Truist Championship.

The former U.S. Open champion has been in decent nick at the PGA Championship in his last five starts, finishing T23 in 2021, T5 in 2022, MC in 2023, MC in 2024, and T8 in 2025.

Fitzpatrick has been on top of his game this year and can win the title in Pennsylvania this weekend.

Patrick Reed

Patrick Reed began his season on the DP World Tour in great touch, finishing 26th at the Dubai Invitational, winning the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, and placing T2 at the Bahrain Championship before winning the Qatar Masters.

Reed has continued to play well after those results, placing T29 at the Investec South African Open Championship, T10 at the Joburg Open, and T12 at the Masters.

Reed played at the Aronimink Golf Club once at the 2018 BMW Championship, finishing T19 overall.

The former Masters champion has a long history at the PGA Championship, with results of T58 in 2014, T30 in 2015, T13 in 2016, 2nd in 2017, MC in 2018, MC in 2019, T13 in 2020, T17 in 2021, T34 in 2022, T18 in 2023, T53 in 2024, and MC in 2025.

Reed has the current game to cause an upset victory at the Aronimink Golf Club this weekend.

Verdict

Young comes into this season's second Major in tremendous touch and has strong claims for the Wanamaker Trophy.

Aberg is overdue for a win and can emerge victorious at the PGA Championship this weekend.

Matt Fitzpatrick has the form to capture his second Major of his career in Pennsylvania this weekend.

Reed has performed well this year and will be challenging for victory at the Aronimink Golf Club on Sunday.
