Calgary Stampeders 4-4 Following Back-To-Back Wins
Calgary head out on the road for the third straight week looking to build on the back-to-back victories that have taken them to 4-4.
The Stampeders opened the season with home games either side of an early bye week, and the failed to make the most of that as they lost 30-28 to Winnipeg and 40-37 in overtime to Saskatchewan.
They finally got off the mark in Week 4, winning 41-33 on the road at the BC Lions, and followed that up a week later as they downed Toronto at home, 58-36.
Calgary failed to make it three-in-a-row as they lost 37-30 in Montreal, and that was followed by a 38-32 loss when they hosted the Alouettes a week later.
The Stampeders have got back to winning ways since then though, following up a 53-30 success in Winnipeg with a 44-20 victory at Hamilton.
Toronto Argonauts Snapped 3-Game Skid Last Time Out
Toronto go into their first outing at BMO Field this season having snapped a three-game skid last time out, improving their record to 3-4.
The Argonauts spent the first several weeks of the season on the road due to the soccer World Cup – playing official ‘home’ games at opponent’s venues – and that resulted in mixed fortunes for them.
They opened with 38-30 defeat to Montreal, but responded to that early loss with a 44-24 win in Ottawa and a 40-34 victory over defending champions Saskatchewan.
Toronto failed to keep that run going though as they then lost three straight – falling 58-36 to Calgary, 30-21 to Winnipeg and 24-23 to Hamilton.
The Argonauts did avoid a fourth straight loss however, as a 26-12 victory over the BC Lions sent them into last week’s bye at 3-4.
Verdict
Toronto stopped the rot last time out, but we are backing Calgary to return them to losing ways.
The Stampeders have had the Argonauts number in recent seasons, and they arrive at BMO Field having been almost flawless on the road so far.
