The Lions are well-positioned ahead of their home fixture against the Stormers in the Currie Cup. Following a spirited comeback for a draw against the Sharks, they have strong momentum and a solid home record, winning three of their last five at home and beating the Stormers in three straight encounters. The Stormers, despite a commanding recent win over the Bulls, struggle away, losing four of their last five on the road. Prediction: Lions to cover the -6.5 handicap.

Lions Lead H2H

The Fidelity ADT Lions have a slight edge over Stormers XXIII, with 17 victories to 14, including one draw in 32 meetings in the Carling Currie Cup since 2010.

Lions Crucial Draw Last Week

The Lions scored a try after 83 minutes of play to secure a dramatic 22-22 draw with the Sharks XV away from home last weekend after leading 10-5 at half-time.

Before that performance, the Golden Lions lost 29-27 to the Cheetahs away from home, and defeated the Pumas 52-29 and the Bulls 42-19 at home, respectively, before losing 31-19 to the Griquas away from home and 38-29 to Boland at home.

The Fidelity ADT Lions are sixth in the Carling Currie Cup table with 15 points from six matches.

The Lions will fancy their chances of winning their remaining fixture in the regular season to remain in the hunt for a semi-final berth, as they defeated the Stormers four times in their last five clashes on home soil.

Stormers Looking for a Repeat Performance

The Stormers XXIII produced an excellent first half of rugby against the Bulls last weekend, winning 50-26 away from home after leading 33-7 at the break.

Earlier in their campaign, the team from Cape Town defeated the Griquas 25-19 at home, lost 41-3 away to Boland, and beat the Sharks 36-28 at home before losing 31-26 to the Cheetahs at home and 29-7 to the Pumas away from home.

Stormers XXIII are fifth in the Currie Cup standings with 16 points from six games.

The Stormers will be pleased with the recent result, and will be out to repeat that performance against the Lions to keep their chances of making the semi-finals alive; however, they have lost three in a row to their opponents, including by 21 points last season in Johannesburg.
