Oranje recently participated in the Volleyball Nations League 2026 final tournament after finishing 7th in the regular season with a 7-5 record, but couldn't do much in the quarterfinals, losing to Italy in straight sets.

Portugal Struggling at the Bottom
Portugal's chances of reaching the EuroVolley 2026 quarterfinals have been reduced significantly after losing both of their opening encounters without winning a single point.
They had a couple of good sequences in the opening round against one of the co-hosts, Azerbaijan, taking a big advantage in the 3rd set to lead 2-1, but ultimately lost the encounter 3-1.
