Aris Flying High After Four Consecutive Wins
Aris are off to a perfect start in the EuroCup, sharing the top spot in Group A with Hapoel Jerusalem, with both teams winning all four games.
They cruised past Le Mans 87-74 in the opening match in France, winning a bit more comfortably than initially expected, before recording two more victories against San Pablo Burgos 93-80 and Tortona 88-68, both in front of their home crowd.
Aris had no problems last week in Germany, crushing Rostock 110-79. Their shooting numbers were not particularly impressive considering the final score, as they shot 49% from the field, but they controlled the paint well, winning the rebounding battle 43-33. Jeremiah Robinson contributed a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Cedevita Olimpija Running Out of Time
Cedevita Olimpija's chances of battling for a playoff spot have already been reduced to a minimum after losing all four of their EuroCup games.
They were neck and neck with San Pablo Burgos in the opener for 36 minutes, but missed a couple of open shots and lost the encounter 85-81. They followed that with defeats against Hapoel Jerusalem 75-64 at home and Rigas Zelli 89-79 on the road.
Last week, Cedevita Olimpija were slight favorites against Le Mans but suffered a convincing 84-66 defeat in Slovenia, shooting just 36% from the field. Matthew Hurt was their only solid performer, finishing with 12 points.
