After a horrible start with three defeats, Real Madrid have bounced back with three straight EuroLeague victories and arrive in Belgrade as favorites. Maccabi have played better than their results might suggest, so we could be in for a true thriller on Thursday.
Maccabi Showing Signs of Improvement
After a rough EuroLeague start, losing their first three games, Maccabi Tel Aviv have improved recently and claimed a couple of important victories. They currently sit in 16th place with a 2-4 record.
Their losing streak finally came to an end with a 97-79 win over Milano, but Maccabi failed to build on that result and lost 90-87 to Barcelona on Tuesday, when Justin Robinson hit a three-pointer with 1.6 seconds left on the clock.
The Yellows returned to winning ways a couple of days later, beating Valencia 91-88 in Spain as underdogs despite entering the final quarter trailing. Jimmy Clark landed clutch shots and finished as the top scorer with 17 points.
Real Madrid Back on Track
Like their upcoming opponents, Real Madrid also started the new campaign with three consecutive defeats but have since found their feet and currently hold a 3-3 record.
After back-to-back defeats to Dubai 78-77, Anadolu Efes 94-84 and Hapoel Tel Aviv 102-98, Los Blancos outplayed Partizan Belgrade 86-76, establishing an early lead and never letting it slip. Theo Maledon was the top scorer with 13 points, although his shooting numbers were far from ideal (3/10 FG). Facundo Campazzo added 12 points.
They made it two wins in a row last Tuesday with an impressive attacking performance in Italy, beating Milano 98-89, before securing a commanding 111-92 home victory against ASVEL last Thursday. Andres Feliz delivered a top-notch performance with 26 points.
