Petro’s chances of repeating last year’s success, when they reached the BAL 2025 finals, are no longer looking great after losing the opening quarterfinal clash against Dar City 88-82 last weekend.
They entered the final quarter with a ten-point advantage but lost the last period 30-14 largely because of awful shooting percentages, finishing the game with just 37% from the field. Not even a dominant 49-37 rebounding advantage could save them, while Chasson Randle finished as the top scorer with 18 points despite struggling from long range (1/6).
The Angolan champions enjoyed a strong campaign in the Kalahari Conference in April, finishing second with four victories and one defeat. In the final round, they crushed Joburg Giants 105-61.
