Poland have impressed so far and are not considered major underdogs against a German team undergoing notable roster changes. With their achievements, Poland deserve recognition and could capitalize on their home advantage. The recommendation is to back Poland in a +12.5 handicap, emphasizing their potential to keep the game competitive. Betting on Poland with this handicap is seen as a strong pick given current team dynamics and form.

Match Preview

Both sides are having very strong results so far in the qualifiers, and a miracle is needed for either of them to miss the Mundobasket next year. It's been four years since their last H2H meeting, with Germany taking an 82-69 win in the EuroBasket 2022 bronze medal decider.

Poland Maintaining Their Perfect Record

Poland and Turkey are the only two teams in Europe to have won all seven Mundobasket 2027 qualifying matches so far, so their chances of booking a flight to Qatar are exceptionally high.

After carrying over the maximum number of points, the Poles started this second qualifying stage with a commanding 106-86 victory against Israel on Thursday. This clash was played on neutral ground in Riga.

Poland had a great two-point selection here, landing 23 out of 34 attempts, while also controlling the glass with 42-26 rebounds. Veteran Mateusz Ponitka was named man of the match with 24 points, nine assists and six rebounds.

Germany Dropped Just One Game

Like their upcoming opponents, Germany are also having a very strong run in the World Championship 2027 qualifiers, sitting in second place with six victories and just one defeat.

On Thursday, they had no problems beating underdog Netherlands 99-83 in front of the home crowd. Their shooting numbers were far from ideal here, but they stepped up defensively, forcing 19 turnovers. Veteran Dennis Schroeder led the way with 23 points and six assists.

The Germans played in the DBB Supercup mini-tournament last week on home soil in Hamburg, cruising past the Czech Republic 115-82 in the semifinals, then beating Croatia 96-87 in the final, with Da Silva being named man of the match with 22 points (9/11 FG shooting).

Verdict

Poland deserve respect for their accomplishments so far, and I don't see them as massive underdogs against Germany, who had a couple of big changes to their roster. A home win in a +12.5 handicap is my top pick.
