Romania vs Greece Live Stream & Tips – Low-Scoring Clash in the World Cup 2027 Qualifiers

Greece is entering the qualifiers without key scorers such as the Antetokounmpo brothers, Tyler Dorsey, and Kostas Sloukas, raising questions about their offensive potential. However, their defensive performance has stayed consistently strong throughout the competition. The team is expected to leverage this defensive prowess to control the game's tempo, likely resulting in a low-scoring encounter. The key recommendation is to anticipate a defensively oriented, cautious game from Greece.

Match Preview

Greece arrive without several established stars but remain in a strong position to secure qualification from Group B. Romania kept their hopes alive with an important win in the previous round and now hope to cause another surprise.

Romania Still Fighting for Qualification

Romania were tagged as the biggest underdog in Group B of the FIBA World Cup 2027 qualifiers but still remain in contention to reach the next round, currently holding a 1-3 record.

They were beaten in both November appearances, first getting smashed by Greece 91-64 on the road, followed by a home 80-75 defeat to Montenegro where the opposition built a 15-point lead in the first half and never gave it away.

The Romanians started 2026 action with a convincing 99-82 defeat to Portugal in Lisbon but responded in the rematch and earned a 101-96 home victory to keep their second phase hopes alive. Daron Russell was man of the match with 29 points.

Greece Continuing to Deliver Despite Absences

A lot of important players decided to skip Greece’s qualifying matches so far but that did not stop them from taking top spot in Group B with a 3-1 record.

Hellas opened the qualifiers with back-to-back victories against Romania 91-64 and Portugal 76-68, while their first and only defeat came in the third round against Montenegro 67-65 in front of the home crowd.

The Greeks responded immediately and defeated Montenegro 79-65 in Podgorica despite posting several modest numbers in the box score (63% free throws, 34-41 rebounds and 44% FG shooting). Vasileios Toliopoulos delivered an outstanding performance with 27 points and 10 assists.

Verdict

Greece are missing several proven scorers from this roster, including the Antetokounmpo brothers, Tyler Dorsey and Kostas Sloukas, but their defensive displays throughout the qualifiers have remained strong. I expect them to control the tempo again and push this matchup toward a low-scoring outcome.
