G2 Esports vs BIG Betting Tips – G2 Esports Are Expected to Advance Deeper in IEM Cologne Major
G2 Esports faces off against BIG on June 8 at the IEM Cologne Major stage 2, marking their first matchup of the year. G2 come in with more experience and better results, but their inconsistency leaves the door open for an upset. BIG impressed with a comeback win in Stage 1 and stable Stage 2 showings, yet haven't beaten top-tier opponents. This unpredictability makes betting tricky. Overall, G2 is favored due to their higher ceiling, but BIG could surprise if G2 slips. View live at major esports streaming sites or with bookmakers like Stake.

This will mark the first clash between G2 Esports and BIG of the year, and the first since May 2025, but that result carries no weight, as both squads have since undergone roster changes.
On paper, this is G2 Esports’ game to lose, and it is very hard to argue with that. While they are considered one of the more unreliable teams, capable of losing to anyone, G2 Esports are far more experienced and have shown more than BIG this tournament, despite playing some close games.
While more likely victory, BIG have sone strong points and a deep enough map pool to present a challenge. Whether that will be enough for an upset is up for debate, but given G2’s somewhat iffy displays, a closer match is not entirely unlikely.
- G2 Esports have been somewhat iffy
- BIG have a lot more to prove
- G2 should come out ahead, but remain unpredictable

G2 Esports Are Not 100%
G2 Esports did not have big expectations put on them ahead of the Major, mainly due to their lack of consistency and shaky results leading up to the event.
They have, so far, done relatively well, going 2-1 in Stage 2, with wins against M80 and Monte, and a 1-2 loss against FUT Esports. While being 2-1 is promising, G2 Esports haven’t shown much. They dropped eight rounds to M80 and needed overtime to make it past Monte before losing to FUT Esports.
Those results highlight what G2 Esports are all about. While they appear strong on paper, and are capable of good things, they will often produce somewhat iffy results even against weaker teams.
On a more positive note, huNter- is in solid shape, averaging a 1.16 rating. On the other side, their best player, HeavyGod sits at just 1.08.

BIG Can Match Up to Anyone
BIG have had quite a turbulent run this tournament, as they barely made it to Stage 2, with a 3-2 record in Stage 1.
Their Stage 1 run ended with an unbelievable victory against NRG, against whom they were 0-12 down on the final map, yet clawed their way back in and closed it out in overtime.
In Stage 2, BIG have looked more stable. They lost to Team Liquid in round 1 with 10-13, and added two convincing victories against Gaimin Gladiators (13-1) and THUNDERdOWNUNDER (13-7).
While the results are promising, it is also fair to note that BIG have had the luxury of a very soft schedule, beating two of the weakest teams of this stage.

Verdict
G2 Esports should be favoured to come out ahead, as the more experienced team with a higher ceiling. However, BIG are no slouches either. Admittedly, they’ve not beaten any good teams this stage, which puts a huge question mark above them and their chances to defeat G2.
On the other hand, G2 Esports haven’t been that great either, which does not help their tag as a squad who can lose to anyone.
This is still G2’s game to lose, but it would not be surprising to see BIG take a map.
