Vitality haven’t looked amazing in recent months, but have started to show some signs of life, with a promising run at BLAST Open Fall. They are now expected to keep the momentum going and make another deep run in Barcelona, where Vitality will look to re-establish themselves as one of the world’s best.

Magic have not been hugely successful this season, especially when faced with tier-one teams, suggesting they will not have an easy time on Thursday either.

Despite their recent struggles, Vitality are now back in full strength with the return of mezii, and will be expected to breeze past magic and start the tournament strong.

Team Vitality’s Chance to Shine

After winning five big events in the first five months of the season, Team Vitality have slowed down and have not secured another gold medal in the next five. They failed to break into the top five in BLAST Bounty Summer, Intel Extreme Masters Atlanta, IEM Cologne Major, and the Esports World Cup.

However, after a long dry spell, Vitality stepped up at BLAST Open Fall, where they reached the semifinals, beating the likes of 9z Team, Legacy, FUT Esports, and FURIA. They did all that while playing with jL as a stand-in for mezii, who is now set to return to the active roster.

With the Brit back in the active lineup, Team Vitality are expected to step it up and show what they’re capable of, and with the improvement they’ve shown recently, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility for the Bees to deliver on expectations.

Magic Have More to Prove

Magic are one of the outsiders to win StarLadder StarSeries Fall, ranked no.17 in the global rankings and no.18 in the Valve Regional Standings.

They’ve been present in some of the more recent big events, but haven’t found much success. Magic attended the Esports World Cup in August and exited the tournament in ninth-16th.

They also featured at FISSURE Playground #3 earlier this month, but again failed to produce a deep run, finishing in seventh-eighth place.

Besides their fourth-place finish at PGL Astana in May, magic haven’t impressed with their performances, and even in Astana, magic did not have to beat any good teams to make it to the semifinals.

All that makes it very hard to trust magic and their chances to challenge the world’s fifth-highest-rated squad, Vitality.

Team Vitality v magic

Team Vitality haven’t been great over the last few months, but that’s relative to their standards and the high expectations put on the most dominant CS2 team of 2025.

They have struggled to break onto the podium since May, but showed signs of life at BLAST Open Fall, despite playing with a stand-in. This alone could be an indication that Vitality are back and in the right shape to launch an attack on the StarLadder StarSeries trophy.

Magic have shown some good things of late, but they’ve regularly crumbled when faced with a tier-one squad. There’s nothing to suggest this time it’ll be any different.
