After losing to Hanwha Life Esports in the first round of play, Top Esports bounced back by beating their regional rivals, Anyone’s Legend, in the second round of the LoL World Championship.
The game was fairly straightforward, with Top Esports snowballing their early leads, using a very snowball-y composition with Kalista, Renata, and Locke. It was a solid showing from the Chinese squad, but it is also worth noting that TES did not show much in the game, besides their ability to capitalise on early leads.

After suffering a rough loss to Dplus KIA in Round 1, G2 Esports got the job done against LOS in the second round of the tournament, but it was not the best showing from the European champions.
It was a very scrappy game early, and even though G2 pulled ahead, they ended up getting picked a few times in the mid game and nearly lost all of their lead. Ultimately, it came down to jungler SkewMond’s heroic plays, which brought G2 Esports back to life and to victory; however, it was a very losable game for G2 against an inferior opponent.
So far, G2 Esports have looked a bit iffy in both of their games. However, knowing what this roster is capable of, it is easy to believe that G2 will manage to bounce back.

Top Esports looked surprisingly clean in their match against Anyone’s Legend, when they got an early lead and used it effectively to snowball to victory. However, this is still a very volatile and unpredictable team that can easily turn into a pumpkin, so I would stay cautiously optimistic about TES and their chances to impress.
G2 Esports have shown some concerning things over the first two games, and they did not impress against LOS. But most of their issues are not that major, so some improvement is expected.
Realistically, G2 Esports are still the better team, as one solid showing from TES does not take away from their identity as a volatile team that will make errors.
