Following a tough loss to Dplus KIA in the first round of play, G2 Esport can be happy with the round two draw. They got paired with the lowest-rated team of the tournament, who got crushed by T1 in their first match of the event.
LOS did not get to show much in the first round of play, as they got stomped by the Korean titans. So while they still have more to show, LOS don’t look like they have the quality to challenge a solid macro team like G2 Esports.
- G2 Esports lost, but played a good game against Dplus
- LOS are still a bit of an enigma
- Expect a one-sided game

G2 Esports Have More to Show
G2 Esports kicked off their 2026 LoL Worlds campaign with a painful and weird defeat against Dplus KIA.
G2 looked great in the early game, setting up traps for Dplus KIA and securing a sizeable lead. Yet even with momentum on their side, over 3000 gold lead at one point, it was not enough.
While G2 Esports stayed ahead most of the game, Dplus KIA got their chance to strike back at the fifth dragon fight, when Career used his Poppy ultimate perfectly to get his team a massive advantage, which eventually turned into a victory.
While G2 Esports had a massive +3k gold lead and even picked up most of the dragons, they ended up short. This sounds worse than it is, even though G2 should’ve won. Ultimately, Dplus got a bit lucky, so I wouldn’t criticise G2 too much for that loss.
G2 Esports Squad & Team News
No roster changes for G2 Esports.
- Sergen "BrokenBlade" Çelik – top lane
- Rudy "SkewMond" Semaan – jungle
- Rasmus "Caps" Winther – mid lane
- Steven "Hans Sama" Liv – ADC
- Labros "Labrov" Papoutsakis– support
LOS Look Rough
LOS started their LoL Worlds campaign against reigning champions T1. And the game played out as expected.
T1 picked up early kills and got the ball rolling, with LOS failing to find much traction or do anything exciting on the map. The game spiralled out of control very fast, and it was essentially over by the 15-minute mark.
There is not a lot to say about LOS’s first game of the tournament. They lost badly and showed little resistance.
LOS Squad & Team News
LOS haven’t announced any changes.
- Kim "Zest" Dong-min – top lane
- Raí "Curse" Yamada – jungle
- Jeong "Feisty" Seong-hoon – mid lane
- Wallyson "Duduhh" Silva – ADC
- Gabriel "Ackerman" Aparicio – support
Verdict
G2 Esports lost to Dplus KIA, but they dominated most of the game before losing a key fight, and the match flipped upside down. A bit of an unlucky situation for G2 Esports, who are otherwise known to deliver in such situations.
The main takeaway is that G2 Esports played well and should’ve won 90% of the time.
LOS did not show much, as they got stomped by T1. Obviously, it is hard to judge a team based on one game alone, but LOS have to show something before I will believe in them and their chances of beating G2.
