XLG Esports had a rough showing ahead of VALORANT Champions, placing fifth-sixth at VCT China Stage 2 and 13th-16th at the Esports World Cup. Given their poor form, XLG were not expected to shine in VALORANT Champions, and they’ve yet to prove anyone wrong.
In the first round of Group D, XLG faced Karmine Corp and lost badly, with 3-13 on Sunset and 6-13 on Abyss. That loss, while expected, also indicates XLG aren't prepared to face tier-1 teams, so things are unlikely to get any better for them on Thursday.

Nongshim RedForce Have a Chance to Bounce Back
Nongshim RedForce were billed as one of the strongest teams at VALORANT Champions, having shown strong form at the Esports World Cup and VCT Pacific Stage 2, finishing third and second, respectively.
Despite showing strong form in the months leading up to the world championship, Nongshim RedForce lost against NRG in the first round of Group D. They got stomped on Lotus with 5-13, and while RedForce showed more life on Split, a poor start to the map was too much for them to overcome and they had to admit defeat with 10-13.
It was not the start RedForce had hoped for. But one loss against a team like NRG proves very little, especially considering how solid Nongshim RedForce looked domestically and at the Esports World Cup.

This match is not hard to predict. Nongshim RedForce indeed slipped against NRG in the first round of Group D, but they are still one of the world’s best teams – as proven by their bronze medal from the Esports World Cup and a silver medal from VCT Pacific Stage 2.
XLG showed some good things early into the year, but have been progressively worse as the season went on, hitting their lowest point in Stage 2.
