Adelaide United vs Melbourne Victory Verdict

It has been a lacklustre start to the season for both Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory and the misfiring sides are tipped for another afternoon of struggle. Under 2.5 goals is the best bet with a low-scoring draw value.

Head To Head

Victory lead the Original Rivalry 22-18, alongside 12 draws. Adelaide have won the last two encounters at Coopers.

Adelaide United Form

Absolutely shocking start to the season for Adelaide.

They blew a 1-0 lead against Sydney FC in their opening A-League game of the campaign and haven't scored since.

Indeed, the Reds went on to lose that game 2-1 before suffering a crushing 4-0 defeat on the road to Perth last week.

It hasn't been any better in the ACL 2, with Adelaide losing by a combined 7-0 home and away score against Singapore champions Lion City Sailors over the last week.

Melbourne Victory Form

Giovanni Savarese is having a tough time to start his tenure at Victory, with his side failing to win their last five games in all comps.

It all started with that shock defeat to South Melbourne in the Australia Cup final and snowballed from there.

Victory actually did okay to salvage a point against the Mariners last week after playing 80 minutes with 10 men, but they were embarrassed by Indonesian side Persib in the ACL 2 mid-week, suffering a 2-1 loss at home, conceding two goals in the final five minutes.
