Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Preview

Crystal Palace have tumbled down the Premier League table after a three-match losing streak. Liverpool win away league matches and have enough class to defeat out-of-form Palace.

3 Liverpool Wins on the Spin

  • Crystal Palace have lost their last 3 Premier League games.
  • Crystal Palace have lost 9 of their last 11 home matches against Liverpool.
  • Liverpool have won 3 consecutive away Premier League games.

H2H - Reds on Top

Liverpool have a 38-18 advantage against Crystal Palace, alongside 14 draws.

Crystal Palace Showing No Signs of Improvement

Crystal Palace have fallen into the Premier League’s relegation zone after losing four of their last six games.

The Eagles are on a three-match losing streak without scoring in the league. Palace were thrashed 5-0 at rivals Brighton before back-to-back 2-0 defeats against Newcastle at home and Tottenham away.

Pierre Sage’s side narrowly avoided defeat against Hoffenheim after a 1-1 home draw in the Europa League. Palace conceded in the seventh minute, allowed 1.25 XG and Daichi Kamada levelled in second-half injury time.

Liverpool Have Momentum on the Road

Andoni Iraola’s Liverpool are one of the best Premier League away teams this season. They are the only unbeaten side on the road, winning three and drawing once in four matches.

The Reds were on a four-match winning streak away in all competitions. League victories at Ipswich 2-0 and Bournemouth 1-0 came before a 6-3 Champions League win at LASK.

The Merseysiders continued their strong away form with a 2-1 triumph at Brentford. Liverpool were the better side with 1.64-0.88 XG.

Iraola’s side lost for the first time away this season on Wednesday after a 3-2 defeat at Fenerbache. The Reds had 22 shots and goals from Trey Nyoni and Alexander Isak couldn’t prevent the defeat.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Crystal Palace (3-4-2-1): Dean Henderson; Jaydee Canvot, Axel Disasi, Chris Richards; Anan Khalaili, Adam Wharton, Quinten Timber, Tyrick Mitchell; Daichi Kamada, Yeremy Pino; Eddie Nketiah

Striker Jean Philippe Mateta was sent off against Tottenham and is suspended. Defensive pair Chadi Riad and Takehiro Tomiyasu and attacker Ismaila Sarr are unavailable through injury.

Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Ronald Araujo, Jeremy Jacquet, Virgil van Dijk, Milos Kerkez; Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai; Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz, Bradley Barcola; Alexander Isak

Defenders Jeremie Frimpong, Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley are sidelined due to injury. Striker Hugo Ekitike is also out with an Achilles injury.

Ryan Gravenberch is unlikely to feature against Palace following a heel issue. Andoni Iraola was uncertain about the midfielder’s condition recently and said:

“If he can be available for the weekend, lovely, he would be a very good help for us. But I cannot tell you right now.”

Verdict

Crystal Palace are on the downturn and look low on confidence. Liverpool can take advantage and keep winning away in the Premier League.
