Australia and Cameroon are poised to face off with contrasting fortunes. The Socceroos, now led by Tony Popovic, recently qualified for the 2026 World Cup but were unimpressive in their latest friendlies. Conversely, Cameroon, on a rebuilding journey, missed World Cup qualification but showed promise in the Africa Cup of Nations. Australia is integrating fresh talent, while Cameroon copes with key injuries. Betting insights suggest Cameroon offers potential value with a recommendation to explore the Double Chance market, predicting a low-scoring game with potential standout performances.

Australia vs Cameroon Preview

The Socceroos have consistently beat up the weaker nations in Asia, but have failed to win seven of their last eight games against teams outside of Asia and Oceania. Cameroon are the best bet in the double chance market.

Their 19-year-old striker Christian Kofane has scored three goals in his first five caps for the national side and is great value to find the back of the net.

Australia Finalising World Cup Prep

After a slow start, the Socceroos qualified for the 2026 World Cup with room to spare as Tony Popovic took over from Graham Arnold.

Four straight wins to end the qualifying campaign - including victories over Japan and Saudi Arabia - saw Australia secure their ticket to North America.

However, recent friendly fixtures at the end of 2025 were disappointing, with Australia going down to USA, Venezuela and Colombia. The Socceroos did claim a win over Canada during that time.

Australia Team News

Teenage defender Lucas Hetherington and Hibs striker Ante Suto have earned maiden call-ups to the Socceroos squad.

Star defenders Jordy Bos and Alessandro Circati - who have been firing for Feyenoord and Parma this season - will be key figures.

Nestory Irankunda will provide the spark and flair out wide, while Riley McGree will be looking to continue his outstanding form after some brilliant performances for Middlesbrough in the Championship.

Young attacker Alexander Robertson has also pledged his allegiance to Australia after years of uncertainty.

Cameroon Rebuilding For The Future

Cameroon are in the midst of a challenging rebuilding period after failing to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, going down to DR Congo in the African playoffs.

After some messy off-field disputes, Cameroon had a solid Africa Cup of Nations campaign at the start of the year, advancing out of a tough group that featured Ivory Coast and Gabon to make the quarter-finals.

The Indomitable Lions defeated South Africa in the R16 before going down to host nation Morocco 2-0.

Cameroon Team News

Big blow for Cameroon, with star striker Bryan Mbeumo ruled out due to injury. Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba is also absent.

No member of this squad have more than 15 international caps to their name.

Defender Jackson Tchatchoua plays for Wolves in the Premier League, while Karl Etta Eyong is a teammate of Mat Ryan at Levante.

Verdict

Cameroon represent value in the Double Chance market in a game tipped to see Under 2.5 goals. Christian Kofane is great odds to find the back of the net.
