The upcoming match between Saudi Arabia and Egypt promises an interesting clash as both teams have shown inconsistent form recently. Saudi Arabia has struggled, being winless in their last three matches, while Egypt has rarely managed to secure a victory. With Mohamed Salah absent, Egypt may face challenges, but their head-to-head history shows a slight edge over Saudi Arabia. Both teams seem evenly matched, making a draw the most likely outcome. Predicted lineups indicate tactical preparations despite recent injuries.

Saudi Arabia Lacking Momentum

Saudi Arabia are inconsistent and have won just two of their previous six matches in all competitions.

The Green Falcons lost 2-0 against Algeria in their most recent friendly match in November. They followed that result with consecutive Arab Cup wins against Oman 2-1 and Comoros 3-1 before losing 1-0 to Morocco.

Herve Renard’s side then drew 1-1 with Palestine in the quarter-finals, eventually progressing following Mohamed Kanno’s late winner.

Saudi Arabia were eliminated at the Arab Cup semi-final stage after a 1-0 defeat to Jordan. The Green Falcons had 0.95 XG, one shot on target and conceded in the final 25 minutes.

Egypt Rarely Win

Hossam Hassan’s Egypt started their 2025/26 AFCON in good form and beat Zimbabwe 2-1 and South Africa 1-0.

The Pharaohs' form dropped off as the tournament progressed and ended their group stage with a 0-0 draw with Angola. Egypt also drew 1-1 against Benin in the knockout play-offs before winning in extra time.

Hassan’s side then won their quarter-final match against the Ivory Coast 3-2 and lost 1-0 to Senegal in the semi-final. Egypt had -1 XG and attempted just nine total shots across both matches.

Their AFCON campaign ended with a 0-0 draw against Nigeria in the third-place play-off. Egypt had 0.29 XG, one shot on target and lost in extra time.

Saudi Arabia and Egypt are in similar, unconvincing form. These well-matched teams will want to tighten up after recent results and an international friendly draw is the best bet.
