H2H - First Encounter

This will be the first-ever meeting between Burton and West Ham.

Burton Are Leaking Goals

Burton are fourth from bottom in League One this season and have the fourth-worst defensive record in the division. Albion have conceded 45 league goals and allow 1.48 XG per game.

The Brewers have won just twice in their last 10, with one recent victory against Boreham Wood 5-0 in the FA Cup. Burton are winless in five consecutive matches and have seen 13 total goals during this period.

Gary Bowyer’s outfit came back twice to hold Port Vale to a 2-2 draw on Saturday. Burton had 2 XG and Jake Beesley scored twice to earn the Brewers a point.

West Ham Have Momentum

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were in serious Premier League relegation danger before a big upturn in recent form. The East Londoners are unbeaten in five of their last six, winning three.

The Hammers’ recent improvements began with a 2-1 FA Cup win against QPR after extra time. West Ham dominated with 19 shots and 2.03 XG and Crysencio Summerville and Taty Castellanos scored.

They followed that result with back-to-back wins over Tottenham 2-1 and Sunderland 3-1 before losing 3-2 at Chelsea. Espirito Santo’s side then recovered with a 2-0 triumph at Burnley, where Crysencio Summerville and Taty Castellanos scored again.

West Ham continued their strong recent form with a 1-1 home draw against in-form Man United. Tomas Soucek opened the scoring on 50 minutes and the Hammers shipped a 96th-minute equaliser.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Burton (3-4-1-2): Bradley Collins; Udoka Godwin-Malife, Terence Vancooten, Alex Hartridge; Kyran Lofthouse, George Evans, Josh McKiernan, Seb Revan; Sulyman Krubally, Jake Beesley, Tyrese Shade

Midfielder Charlie Webster is unavailable due to injury.

West Ham (4-2-3-1): Alphonse Areola; Kyle Walker-Peters, Max Kilman, Axel Disasi, Oliver Scarles; Crysencio Summerville, Tomas Soucek, Freddie Potts, Adama Traore; Mateus Fernandes, Callum Wilson

Defender Jean-Clair Todibo will serve the final game of his three-match suspension against Burton. Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is also out with a lower back injury.

Pablo is unlikely to feature following a recent knock. Nuno Espirito Santo was unconfident about the attacking midfielder’s fitness for the Burton game and said,  “Yeah, he’s the injury that we have. Unfortunately, he’s going to be out. That’s a blow for us.”

Verdict

Burton struggle to keep the goals out and rarely win. West Ham look confident and can seal a high-scoring FA Cup away victory.
