H2H

Wrexham have a 1-0 advantage against Ipswich, alongside one draw.

Wrexham Have a Weak Defence

Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham have struggled to defend all season. The Welsh side have allowed 1.54 XG per game in the Championship and have conceded 24 home goals in 16 matches.

The Red Dragons drew 3-3 with Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup third round before winning 4-3 on penalties. Wrexham had 2.61 XG in that game and faced 31 shots.

Parkinson’s outfit are winless in three of their five games since the Forest victory, scoring six and conceding seven.

Wrexham’s patchy recent run of form continued with a 2-0 home loss against Millwall. They had 1.4 XG and conceded twice in the final 30 minutes.

Ipswich Starting to Concede More Goals

Ipswich are one of the highest-scoring Championship teams this season with 51 goals in 30 fixtures. The Tractor Boys average over 15 shots per game this season.

Kieran McKenna’s team were on a five-match winning streak, including a 2-1 victory against Blackpool. The Suffolk side had 2.72 XG and 32 shots in that game.

Ipswich have dropped points in two of their last three games, losing 3-1 at Sheffield United and drawing 1-1 against Preston. They had 27 shots and allowed over 1 XG across those two games.

The Tractor Boys hit back with a 2-1 victory at Derby. McKenna’s side led through an own goal, conceded on 68 minutes and Leif Davis scored a late winner.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Wrexham (3-4-2-1): Arthur Okonkwo; Max Cleworth, Dominic Hyam, Callum Doyle; Issa Kabore, George Dobson, Ben Sheaf, George Thomason; Ollie Rathbone, Lewis O'Brien; Kieffer Moore

Defenders Zak Vyner and Libby Cacace are injured and won’t feature. Midfielder Matty James came off against Millwall with a toe injury and is ruled out.

Nathan Broadhead could return to the squad for Friday’s clash. Phil Parkinson provided a positive pre-match update on the forward and said, "Broady, the Tuesday after the transfer window closed, had a slight problem with his groin but is making good progress so we don't anticipate that to be too long.

"He did some part of the training today (Thursday) so depending on his reaction tomorrow, we'll see how he is. But the good news is that he's come through what he did this morning okay."

Ipswich (4-2-3-1): Christian Walton; Darnell Furlong, Dara O'Shea, Cedric Kipre, Leif Davis; Azor Matusiwa, Jack Taylor; Wes Burns, Anis Mehmeti, Jack Clarke; Ivan Azon Monzon

Midfielder Marcelino Nunez and forward Jaden Philogene are injury doubts after missing the Derby game.

Defensive pair  Ashley Young and Conor Townsend are ruled out with long-term injuries.

Verdict

Wrexham get amongst the goals at the Racecourse and Ipswich have seen plenty of high-scoring away results. Both sides struggle to keep clean sheets and an FA Cup high-scorer is expected.
