Cardiff City is displaying impressive recent form and appears poised to continue that trajectory at home against Norwich City. Given Cardiff's strong performances at their own ground and Norwich's struggles, the projection favors a Cardiff win or, at worst, a draw. Bettors are advised to consider the 'Cardiff Win or Draw' market at odds of 1.6, staking 3 units on this outcome based on clear momentum and matchup advantages.

Cardiff vs Norwich Preview

Cardiff are an in-form side and have been tough to beat early in the new season. Norwich are struggling for momentum and the Bluebirds can win or draw in the EFL Cup.

Key Stats - Bluebirds Rarely Lose

  • Cardiff are unbeaten in 6 consecutive games.
  • Cardiff have won 2 of their last 3 home matches against Norwich.
  • Norwich have lost their last 2 matches.

H2H

Norwich have a 37-18 advantage against Cardiff, alongside nine draws.

Cardiff Are a Team on the Up

Brian Barry-Murphy’s Cardiff don’t lose many games and are undefeated in six consecutive matches. The Welsh outfit have also avoided defeat in their last three home matches.

The Bluebirds won their final three friendlies ahead of the new campaign, including a 4-2 home victory over Roma.

Cardiff continued their good form in the 2026/27 season and beat Swindon 3-2 at home in the EFL Cup. They followed that victory with a 1-1 comeback draw against Wrexham at home.

Barry-Murphy’s team drew a second consecutive match on Saturday and held Derby 2-2 away. The Bluebirds had 1.98 XG, 64% possession and Cian Ashford and Yousef Salech scored in the first half.

Norwich Having an Inconsistent Start to 2026/27

Norwich are out of form early in the new season and have won once and lost twice in three matches.

The Canaries’ only victory this term was a 4-1 home triumph against League One side MK Dons in the EFL Cup.

Philippe Clement’s side couldn’t build momentum and lost their Championship opener 2-1 against West Brom. The Canaries allowed 1.85 XG and trailed 2-0 after 87 minutes.

The Norfolk outfit lost again on Saturday following a 3-0 defeat at Millwall. Norwich faced 19 shots, allowed 2.7 XG, conceded on 18 minutes and let in two second-half goals.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Cardiff (4-2-3-1): Harry Tyrer; Ronan Kpakio, Perry Ng, Joel Bagan, Calum Scanlon; Alex Robertson, David Turnbull; Chris Willock, Joel Colwill, Isaak Davies; Callum Robinson

Defensive trio Callum Chambers, Will Fish and Dylan Lawlor are unlikely to feature due to injury.

Gabriel Osho missed the Derby game and is an injury doubt against Norwich. Brian Barry-Murphy provided an update on the defender’s condition and said, "Well, he hyperextended his knee late on, so he was in discomfort."

Norwich (4-2-3-1): Dan Grimshaw; Jack Stacey, Harry Darling, Ruairi McConville, Ben Chrisene; Pelle Mattsson, Kenny McLean; Anthony Musaba, Ben Slimane, Papa Amadou Diallo; Mohamed Toure

Midfielders Ali Ahmed and Liam Gibbs and forward Jovon Makama are sidelined with injuries.

Defender Lucien Mahovo is also out following an ankle issue.

Verdict

Cardiff will be eager to maintain momentum after some excellent recent form. The Bluebirds are a good home side and can win or draw against a struggling Norwich.
