The Mariners come into this contest with a 7-7-9 record on the season and down in ninth on the ladder after 23 rounds.

Central Coast have enjoyed a mini-resurgence over the last couple of months, but they find themselves four points adrift of the top six and with lots of work to do in order to secure an unlikely finals appearance.

Warren Moon's team have come unstuck against both Melbourne teams recently, suffering a 4-1 defeat to Victory before Tuesday night's 2-1 loss to City.

The Mariners only had 40 per cent of possession and weren't really in the game as Ali Auglah scored a late consolation goal.
