The anticipated match between Colombia and France in Maryland is set to be a fascinating encounter, with both teams coming off eventful recent games. Colombia has previously beaten France once, back in a friendly eight years Uago, and will aim to replicate that success despite a recent 2-1 loss to Croatia. Meanwhile, France is in robust form, having secured a confident victory against Brazil. With combinations of attacking prowess and notable histories, fans can expect an engaging and potentially high-scoring game.

Colombia v France Predictions

Another intriguing friendly fixture is likely to see goals on the menu at Northwest Stadium.

I have stakes on BTTS, while I also expect France to maintain their fine form by scoring at least two goals.

Goals on the Cards in Maryland

  • Colombia have seen BTTS in 2 of their last 3 matches
  • France have seen BTTS in 4 of their last 6 matches
  • France scored 2+ goals in their last 10 matches

Colombia and France Set For Third Meeting

Colombia and France meet for the third time on Sunday evening. Colombia claimed a 3-2 friendly win in their most recent encounter eight years ago, while France took the first meeting 1-0 in 2008.

Colombia Slip-Up Against Croats

Colombia head to Landover, Maryland, after a 2-1 defeat to Croatia in Orlando on Thursday. Jhon Arias struck inside three minutes to give Nestor Lorenzo's side an ideal start, but first-half goals from Luka Vuskovic and Igor Matanovic turned the match around for the Europeans.

Despite edging the xG (1.22 vs 1.13), Los Cafeteros came away empty-handed in front of a largely Colombian crowd at Camping World Stadium.

Lorezno's men had enjoyed a nine-game unbeaten run over the previous 12 months before Thursday's defeat. Highlight reel victories included a thumping 6-3 win in Venezuela and an impressive 4-0 win against Mexico.

The South Americans have shown plenty of attacking quality in the past year. Colombia scored 19 goals in their last seven fixtures.

10-Man Les Bleus Stun Brazil

France face their second friendly of the week after edging to a 2-1 win against Brazil on Thursday. Kylian Mbappe's second-half strike - his 56th in 95 appearances - put Les Bleus ahead before Hugo Ekitike's second international goal sealed the win.

Despite Dayot Upamecano's second-half dismissal, France held on for a fine victory, with Bremer grabbing a late consolation for Brazil.

In strong form over the past year, France have won 12 and lost just two of their last 16 matches. Les Bleus are unbeaten in their last eight internationals with seven wins collected in that period.

Didier Deschamps' side have also been prolific, scoring at least twice in ten straight matches, averaging 2.6 goals per game.

Predicted Lineups and Team News

Colombia (4-3-3) Ospina; Santiago Arias, Davinson Sanchez, Jhon Lucumi, Deiver Machado; Kevin Castano, Richard Rios, Jorge Carrascal; Jhon Arias, Rafael Santos Borre, Luis Diaz.

Nestor Lorenzo is expected to make several changes following the defeat to Croatia. Deiver Machado could replace Johan Mojica at left-back, while Santiago Arias is set to come in for Daniel Munoz on the opposite flank.

In midfield, Kevin Castano and Jorge Carrascal are both in line to start, with Jefferson Lerma and James Rodriguez likely to drop out of the XI.

France (4-2-3-1) Mike Maignan; Malo Gusto, Ibrahima Konate, Maxence Lacroix, Theo Hernandez; N’Golo Kante, Adrien Rabiot; Michael Olise, Rayan Cherki, Desire Doue; Marcus Thuram.

Didier Deschamps is expected to rotate his selection following the win against Brazil. Maxence Lacroix could come into the backline in place of the suspended Dayot Upamecano, while N'Golo Kante is likely to replace Aurelien Tchouameni in midfield.

Desire Doue and Marcus Thuram are both in line for recalls, with Hugo Ekitike and Kylian Mbappe potentially earning a rest on Sunday.

Deschamps spoke after the win against Brazil, highlighting the importance of Thursday’s victory for French confidence.

“The victory is special because it's Brazil,” he told TF1.

“The last time we faced them was 11 years ago, and we took a heavy defeat. There was a big gap. I wouldn’t say that's been completely reversed, but what we showed in the first half was very encouraging.”

Verdict

France has been in excellent form over the past year, and I expect Les Bleus to score twice in a game where both teams should find the back of the net.

I have two stakes on BTTS and France to score 2+ goals in Maryland.
