Toulouse vs Strasbourg Predictions & Live Stream – Away Win is a Value Bet in Ligue 1

Strasbourg are tipped to win away at Toulouse in Ligue 1, following a strong performance in their recent victory over Auxerre. Strasbourg are considered potential contenders for European qualification this season, while Toulouse have managed just two wins from their opening nine matches. This contrast in form supports the selection of Strasbourg to claim victory in this fixture, with the visitors' recent display and Toulouse's struggles providing the main reasons for the tip.

Strasbourg finally ended their awful run by demolishing Auxerre 5-1 last weekend. I will back them to keep on pushing and beat Toulouse who struggle at home.

Key Stats

  • Toulouse have lost 2 of their last 4 home matches.
  • Strasbourg have won 3 of their last 6 matches against Toulouse.

Strasbourg Lead Head to Head

This is going to be the 47th time these sides lock horns, Strasbourg having a 21-13 advantage in terms of victories.

Hosts Struggling to Close Games

Judging by early days, Toulouse are likely to be involved in the Ligue 1 relegation battle this season, grabbing ten points from nine matches and currently sit in 14th place.

They have been struggling at home, especially in the early stages, suffering back to back defeats to Lyon 2-0 and Lille 1-0, then things improved, beating Le Havre 3-2 and sharing the spoils with Troyes 0-0.

Last weekend, the Violets were defeated by Olympique Marseille 2-0 at Velodrome despite having four clear goal chances, ending this match with 1.90-1.29 expected goals and 14-13 shots.

October Was Rough For Strasbourg

Strasbourg had a good start to the new Ligue 1 campaign but hit a very rough patch last month, securing just three points from their last five league games.

After losing to Paris FC 2-1 in mid-September, they returned from the international break with three straight defeats to Nice 2-1, Paris SG 3-1 and Rennes 3-0.

The losing run was finally put to an end last weekend, taking all their frustrations out on Auxerre 5-1. Gessime Yassine netted a brace, Dario Essugo, Martial Godo and Conrad Harder also on target.

Team News & Predicted Lineups

Toulouse (4-4-2) Guillaume Restes; Ismail Diallo, Mark McKenzie, Rasmus Nicolaisen, Christ Tape; Niklas Schmidt, Cristian Casseres Jr, Niko Sigur, Thomas Jorgensen; Jacen Russell-Rowe, Casper Tengstedt

Striker Aron Donnum serves a suspension due to yellow card accumulation, while defender Rafik Messali faces assessment for a leg injury and midfielder Abu Francis remains doubtful with a sore hamstring.

Strasbourg (4-1-2-3) Filip Jorgensen; Ismael Doukoure, Lucas Hogsberg, Karim Coulibaly, Oso; Samir El Mourabet; Dario Essugo, Giovanni Reyna; Gessime Yassine, Conrad Harder, Martial Godo

Joaquin Panichelli stays sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury, while winger Fabio Balde deals with muscle tightness, and Hermann Malonga, Deivid Washington, and Maxi Oyedele remain questionable due to poor fitness.

Verdict

Strasbourg should be one of contenders for European positions this season in my opinion, and they looked fantastic in last weekend's win over Auxerre. Toulouse won just two out of nine games so far, so backing the visitors looks like a value bet.
