Sunderland continues to be a formidable force at home in the Premier League, frequently securing points from high-quality teams. Liverpool, on the other hand, appears to be struggling under manager Slot, making this upcoming match poised for an upset or a tightly contested draw. Betting on a Sunderland win or draw seems strategically wise, with attractive odds available. This analysis suggests that Sunderland's robust home performances could once again yield favorable results, offering a promising opportunity for bettors.

H2H - Back-to-Back Draws

Liverpool have a 79-52 advantage against Sunderland, alongside 40 draws.

Home Form a Foundation for Sunderland

Sunderland have been the most successful of the three promoted sides in the Premier League this season. They are comfortably in mid-table and sit seven points off the top five places.

Home form has been key to the Black Cats’ success and they are the last remaining unbeaten side at home this season.

Regis Le Bris’ outfit have held Aston Villa 1-1, Arsenal 1-1 and Man City 0-0 during their unbeaten home run. Sunderland have also won their last two at home, beating Crystal Palace 2-1 and Burnley 3-0.

The Black Cats followed the Burnley win with a 3-0 defeat at league leaders Arsenal. Sunderland conceded before half time and shipped two more goals in the second period.

Slot Under Pressure at Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has come under pressure recently following an inconsistent Premier League campaign. The reigning champions have slipped to sixth place after dropping points in six of their last seven outings.

The Reds' decline started with four consecutive league draws and one defeat in January. Slot’s side ended that streak with a 4-1 home triumph over Liverpool.

Liverpool’s top four hopes were dealt another blow on Sunday after a 2-1 home loss to Man City. The Reds allowed 2.75 XG and Dominik Szoboszlai scored a free-kick before City struck two later goals.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Sunderland (4-2-3-1): Robin Roefs; Nordi Mukiele, Dan Ballard, Omar Alderete, Reinildo Mandava; Lutsharel Geertruida, Habib Diarra; Trai Hume, Enzo Le Fee, Chemsdine Talbi; Brian Brobbey

Winger Bertrand Traore is unavailable with a knee issue. Attacker Jocelin is also unavailable due to an ankle injury.

Granit Xhaka remains sidelined with a foot problem. Regis Le Bris explained that the midfielder is unlikely to feature in the next few games and said, “Probably two or three weeks. We'll see according to his feeling and just wait a bit.”

Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Curtis Jones, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Milos Kerkez; Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister; Mohamed Salah, Florian Wirtz, Cody Gakpo; Hugo Ekitike

Midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai was sent off against Man City and is suspended. Defenders Jeremie Frimpong, Conor bradley and Giovanni Leoni and striker Alexander Isak are injured.

Joe Gomez is unlikely to return for the Sunderland game after a recent groin problem. Arne Slot wasn’t hopeful over the defender’s availability and said, “To be honest, I don’t expect Joe to be back on Wednesday, but you never know.”

Verdict

Sunderland are one of the best home sides in the Premier League and often take points off high-quality opponents. Liverpool are lacking form and direction under Slot and a home win or draw has good value.
