Wolves Struggle at Home in the EPL

Wolves are bottom of the Premier League table with seven points from 21 games. The Midlands side have the worst home record this season after losing eight of their 10 games at Molineux.

The Old Gold were winless in 13 consecutive games, losing 12. They ended that streak with a 3-0 win against West Ham and a 1-1 draw at Man United.

Rob Edwards’ side cruised to a 6-1 home win against Shrewsbury in the FA Cup. Jorgen Strand-Larsen scored a hat-trick and Jhon Arias, Rodrigo Gomes and Tolu Arokodare also got on the scoresheet.

Newcastle in Good League  Form

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle have climbed up to sixth in the Premier League following strong recent form. The Magpies are unbeaten in four of their last five league matches, winning three.

Those three victories came consecutively against Burnley 3-1, Crystal Palace 2-0 and Leeds 4-3. Newcastle followed that run with a 3-3 FA Cup draw against Bournemouth and eventually progressed on penalties.

The Toon’s four-match unbeaten run ended with a 2-0 home defeat to Man City in the EFL Cup. Newcastle had 10 shots and conceded twice in the second half.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Wolves (3-5-2): Jose Sa; Yerson Mosquera, Santiago Bueno, Ladislav Krejci; Jackson Tchatchoua, Jhon Arias, Joao Gomes, Matheus Mane, Hugo Bueno; Jorgen Strand Larsen, Hwang Hee-Chan

Defender Toti Gomes and Emmanuel Agbadou are unlikely to feature due to injury. Forward Leon Chiwome and midfielders Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Marshall Munetsi are also injured.

Tawanda Chirewa could miss out against Newcastle. Rob Edwards provided an update on the winger’s condition and said, “Chirewa has had an illness this week, so he's not trained with us.”

Newcastle (4-3-3): Nick Pope; Lewis Miley, Malick Thiaw, Sven Botman, Lewis Hall; Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, Joelinton; Harvey Barnes, Nick Woltemade, Anthony Gordon

Defenders Dan Burn, Fabian Schar, Emil Krafth, Valentino Livramento and Jamal Lascelles are injured. Striker William Osula is also sidelined with an ankle issue.

Jacob Murphy came off injured against Man City. Eddie Howe confirmed the forward’s absence for the foreseeable future and said, “Jacob has had another [hamstring] scan, and again, nothing is showing, which is a strange one. You have to go on the symptoms and how the player feels. That'll probably mean a period that Jacob has to come out. How long, I don't know”

Verdict

Wolves face a step up in quality against Newcastle in this Premier League clash. The Magpies are in top league form and can win at Molineux.
