Gwangju vs Seoul Live Stream & Tips - Seoul to Stroll to Easy KL1 Victory

In this K League 1 preview, Gwangju faces Seoul with the home side desperate for points at the bottom of the table. Gwangju recently snapped a long losing streak but continues to struggle defensively, conceding over two goals per game on average. Meanwhile, FC Seoul are winless in three matches but remain atop the division with a strong head-to-head record, including a 5-0 win earlier in the year. The recommendation is a Seoul away win by a multi-goal margin, expecting an entertaining match with at least three goals.

Gwangju vs Seoul Predictions

Gwangju are in dismal form, and they should struggle to contain a strong Seoul side. I have my first bet on the visitors to win by at least two clear goals, while I also expect three goals or more on Tuesday.

Gwangju in Dire Form

  • Gwangju lost by more than 1 goal in 6 of their last 9 matches
  • Gwangju have seen over 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 6 matches
  • Seoul won by more than 1 goal in their last 3 matches against Gwangju
  • Seoul won by more than 1 goal in 3 of their last 5 wins
  • Seoul have seen over 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 7 matches

Seoul Lead Gwangju in Head to Head Record

Gwangju and Seoul have met on 16 occasions since 2020. Seoul won nine of those games, including a dominant 5-0 victory in their most recent meeting earlier this year. Gwangju claimed five wins.

Gwangju Break Long Losing Run

Gwangju come into Tuesday’s KL1 contest after a hard-fought goalless draw against Gangwon secured their first point since March. In an evenly-balanced affair, GFC held on to secure a much-needed draw at Gwangju Football Stadium.

Jeong-Gyu Lee's side had lost each of eight previous KL1 matches, leaking 29 goals in those defeats.

That dismal run had seen the hosts concede four goals or more in four of their five most recent defeats, including a 5-0 home reversal against Daejeon Hana.

Thirteen games into the KL1 campaign, Gwangju remain bottom of the division, with only seven points on the board.

Seoul Winless in Three

FC Seoul make the trip to Gwangju looking to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat at Jeju on Saturday. Leonardo Ruiz's second goal of the season proved consolation only for the KL1 league leaders as they slipped to their third defeat of the campaign.

Kim Gi-Dong's side proved profligate in front of goal, with the visitors passing up several clear-cut opportunities to claim an equaliser at Jeju World Cup Stadium.

The Dark Red Warriors have gone off the boil in recent weeks. Seoul won seven of nine league games before failing to win each of their last three KL1 fixtures.

Despite their indifferent form, Gi-Dong's men remain top of the division. Seoul sit three points clear of Ulsan, albeit having played one game more.

Predicted Lineups and Team News

Gwangju (4-4-2) Dong-hwa Kim; Seung-un Ha, Yong-hyuk Kim, Young-kyu Ahn, Sung-yun Kwon; Yong-jun Hong, Se-jong Ju, Min-seo Moon, Ji-hun Joung; Hyeok-joo An, Holmbert Aron Friojonsson

Head coach Jeong-Gyu Lee is likely to retain faith in much of the same side that broke their long losing run last weekend. Holmbert Aron Friojonsson could come into the side after a 45-minute substitute appearance against Gangwon.

The hosts have no reported injury issues ahead of Tuesday's matchup.

Seoul (4-1-4-1) Sung-yun Gu; Jun Choi, Seong-hun Park, Juan Antonio Ros, Jin-su Kim; Hrvoje Babec; Seung-won Jeong, Jeong-beom Son, Cho Young-wook, Min-kyu Song; Leonardo Ruiz

Seoul boss Gi-Dong is unlikely to make any dramatic alterations to his first XI. Brazilian forward Leonardo Ruiz is expected to spearhead the Seoul attack again on Tuesday.

Sang-min Lee remains sidelined with an unknown injury issue.

Verdict

While Seoul have suffered a dip in form, they should have far too much quality for struggling Gwangju.

I have stakes on a handicap away win and Seoul to win with three match goals.
