Viking vs Sabah Baku Predictions & Tips – Viking Backed to Win in the Champions League

Viking are tipped to secure a home win against Sabah Baku in their upcoming match, but a clean sheet is not expected. This recommendation is based on Viking's impressive record of 14 wins in their last 15 home appearances, highlighting their strong form at home. However, the tip acknowledges that Viking's defence may concede, suggesting Sabah Baku could find the net despite being UCL debutants. The analysis supports Viking to win, but not without allowing a goal.

A 3-3 draw against Bayern Munich was the only game Viking didn't win at home since March. I will back them to defeat Sabah Baku on Wednesday but not with a clean sheet.

Key Stats

  • Viking have won 14 of their last 15 home matches.
  • Viking have seen BTTS in 9 of their last 10 matches.
  • Sabah Baku have lost 2 of their last 3 matches.
  • Sabah Baku have seen BTTS in 2 of their last 3 matches.

This is going to be the first head to head match between Viking and Sabah Baku.

Viking Searching Their First Ever UCL Victory

Viking had very tough schedule so far in the Champions League and left a solid impression, starting the campaign with a 3-1 road loss to Stuttgart where Zlatko Tripic scored a consolation.

The Norwegian champions had a furious start in home premiere, gaining a 2-0 advantage against Bayern Munich early and ultimately barely getting away with a 3-3 draw thanks to Herman Haugen's stoppage time equalizer.

They haven't offered much two weeks ago in Birmingham, losing to Aston Villa 3-1, Peter Christensen scoring a consolation goal in the 84th minute.

Sabah Struggling in Azerbaijan

After being demolished 4-0 by Man Utd in their first-ever UCL main stage appearance, Sabah Baku earned a historic 2-0 home victory over Slavia Prague in the second round, punishing the Czech side for wasting numerous chances.

The Azerbaijani side also had a solid performance in the third round against Borussia Dortmund, which was also played in front of the Baku crowd, but ultimately lost against the superior side 2-1.

Sabah have been struggling on the domestic front though, claiming just one victory in their last four league games. Last weekend, they were beaten by 4th placed Turan 3-2.

Team News & Predicted Lineups

Viking (4-3-3) Arild Ostbo; Henrik Heggheim, Gianni Stensness, Henrik Falchener, Kristoffer Haugen; Henrik Rorvik Bjordal, Joe Bell, Kristoffer Askildsen; Peter Christiansen, Erik Botheim, Zlatko Tripic

Anders Baertelsen recovers from a foot injury, Veton Berisha deals with a thigh issue, Sondre Bjorshol remains out with a knee injury, while Nick D'Agostino stays sidelined with a knee problem.

Sabah Baku (4-3-3) Stas Pokatilov; Akim Zedadka, Steve Solvet, Rahman Dashdamirov, Tymoteusz Puchacz; Umarali Rakhmonaliev, Ivan Lepinjica, Abdulakh Khaibulaev; Kaheem Parris, Joy-Lance Mickels, Christian Nwachukwu

Winger Veljko Simic is doubtful due to minor knock suffered earlier this week, but Sabah Baku have no other injury or suspension concerns.

Verdict

Viking's results at home have been impressive, securing 14 wins in their last 15 appearances. I will back them to beat another UCL debutant Sabah Baku on Wednesday but not with a clean sheet.
