Borussia Dortmund are predicted to win narrowly against Real Betis in their Champions League fixture, with the German side’s strong home record—five wins in their last six at home—providing the main reason for confidence. Real Betis, currently fourth in La Liga and unbeaten in 10 of their last 11 matches, are expected to provide stiff competition, but Dortmund’s home advantage is seen as decisive. The tip is for Dortmund to win by a single goal margin, reflecting both teams’ recent form and Betis’s resilience.

Real Betis have won all three matches in the Champions League but had some luck in their victory at Lille.

Borussia Dortmund haven’t won by 2+ goals in eight games, a narrow home win on the cards in Germany.

Key Stats

  • Borussia Dortmund have won 5 of their last 6 home matches.
  • Real Betis are undefeated in 10 of their last 11 matches.

HTH

This will be the first competitive match between Borussia Dortmund and Real Betis.

Dortmund in the Title Race

Borussia Dortmund are yet to lose in the Bundesliga, tied with Bayern at the top of the table.

The Black and Yellow’s drew 2-2 in Munich on Saturday, the woodwork coming to their rescue on three occasions. Fábio Silva came off the bench to equalise in the 89th minute, his third goal of the campaign.

Niko Kovac’s side began the Champions League with a 3-2 win against Villarreal. They lost 1-0 at Bodo/Glimt before a narrow 2-1 win at Sabah.

Betis Hard to Beat

Real Betis are unbeaten in 10 of their last 11 matches, the only hiccup coming in a 5-2 defeat to Barcelona. They trailed 3-2 when Facundo Bernal was sent off, the red card ending their hopes of a come back.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side sit fourth in La Liga, their latest game ending in a 2-1 win against Malaga. Marc Bartra and Pablo Fornals scored in the first half but they were unable to clear away from the promoted side.

Betis have won all three matches in the Champions League, winning 3-2 at Lille before home wins against Porto (3-2) and Feyenoord (1-0).

Predicted Lineups & Team News

Borussia Dortmund (3-4-2-1) Gregor Kobel; Joane Gadou, Waldemar Anton, Nico Schlotterbeck; Julian Ryerson, Joey Veerman, Felix Nmecha, Daniel Svensson; Konstantinos Karetsas, Carney Chukwuemeka; Serhou Guirassy

Emre Can and Giannis Konstantelias are out with cruciate ligament injuries and not expected to return any time soon.

Kovac could make some changes here with Julian Ryerson, Marcel Sabitzer and Konstantinos Karetsas options to start.

Real Betis (4-2-3-1) Alvaro Valles; Angel Ortiz, Marc Bartra, Natan, Fran García; Pablo Fornals, Marc Roca; Antony, Isco, Abde Ezzalzouli; Troy Parrott

Junior Firpo is out with a muscle injury and Cucho Hernandez has a calf injury. Expect Antony to return to the starting side with Rodrigo Riquelme reverting to the bench.

Hector Bellerin could make way for Angel Ortiz and Diego Llorente will hope to return to central defence, but Marc Bartra will want to start against his former club.

Verdict

Borussia Dortmund are strong at home but Real Betis are unlikely to be pushovers in Germany. I am backing the hosts to win by a single goal margin.
