New Zealand vs Chile Betting Tips & Predictions - Chile Tipped to Claim FIFA Series Spoils

The upcoming encounter between New Zealand and Chile on Monday promises excitement as these teams face off in the FIFA Series. New Zealand has struggled, winning only one of their last eight matches, while Chile has been on an impressive run with four consecutive victories. With their win against Cape Verde showcasing their attacking strength, Chile is favored to triumph with an expected score of over 1.5 goals. Key players for both teams may see lineup changes as coaches adjust strategies for this vital matchup.

New Zealand vs Chile Predictions

Chile showed strong attacking quality in last week's win against Cape Verde, and I expect the South Americans to claim another victory on Monday.

An “away win” is my preferred pick, while I also fancy Chile to score two goals or more in this FIFA Series contest.

New Zealand in Dismal Form

  • New Zealand lost 7 of their last 8 matches
  • New Zealand conceded 2+ goals in their last 3 matches
  • Chile won their last 4 matches
  • Chile scored 2+ goals in their last 4 matches

Chile Hold H2H Advantage Against New Zealand

New Zealand and Chile will meet for the fifth time on Monday. Chile won three of their four previous encounters, including a 2-1 win in 2010.

New Zealand Struggles Continue

New Zealand come into Monday's encounter after a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Finland in their opening fixture in the FIFA Series at Eden Park.

Goals conceded either side of half-time ensured a losing start to the competition for the Kiwis. In a match of few clear-cut opportunities, with neither side registering an xG above 1, the Finns proved more clinical in front of goal.

Looking to build momentum ahead of their return to the FIFA World Cup this summer, New Zealand have endured a poor run of form. Darren Bazeley's side have won just one of eight friendlies played in the past nine months (D1, L7).

A lack of quality in the final third remains the biggest issue for the All Whites. New Zealand have scored just four goals in those eight fixtures.

Chile See-off Cape Verde

Chile return to Eden Park after an entertaining 4-2 win against Cape Verde last Friday. Trailing 2-1 at the break, second-half goals from Maximiliano Gutierrez, Felipe Loyola and Gonzalo Tapia secured a fine comeback victory for La Roja.

Since the conclusion of a disappointing FIFA World Cup qualification campaign, where Chile finished bottom of the CONMEBOL standings, the South Americans have shown signs of improvement in recent friendlies.

Led by interim boss Nicolas Andres Cordova, La Roja have remained unbeaten in their last five matches, including four successive victories since October.

Chile claimed a pair of 2-1 victories against Peru, as well as a 2-0 win in Russia in recent friendly action.

Predicted Lineups and Team News

New Zealand (4-3-3) Max Crocombe; Callan Elliot, Tyler Bindon, Finn Surman, James McGarry; Ryan Thomas, Marko Stamenic, Jesse Randall; Elijah Just, Ben Waine, Ben Old

Head coach Darren Bazeley could make changes to his first XI. James McGarry, Jesse Randall and Callan Elliot could earn recalls after their substitute appearances against Finland.

Bazeley admitted his disappointment after New Zealand's defeat to Finland last week.

“I'm disappointed,” he told the media post-match. “We came into tonight's game knowing it's a chance for us to be the home team.”

“We've been away from home a lot and played a lot of games away over the last couple of years, which is tough"

"We came in wanting to put on a performance, but we talked about scoring goals and getting results at this stage, being closer to the World Cup.”

Chile (4-3-3) Lawrence Vigouroux; Ian Garguez, Ivan Roman, Benjamin Kuscevic, Gabriel Suazo; Vicente Pizarro, Felipe Loyola, Maximiliano Gutierrez; Dario Osorio, Gonzalo Tapia, Ben Brereton Diaz

Nicolas Andres Cordova could make changes to his first XI. Dario Osorio, Gonzalo Tapia and Felipe Loyola could earn recalls after their second-half introductions last time out.

Verdict

Chile can carry the momentum of their win against Cape Verde to claim the spoils on Monday. An away win and over 1.5 team goals are my top tips for this FIFA Series clash.
