Stellenbosch FC head into their clash with Sekhukhune United with a solid historical record—winning three of the last four meetings and boasting just one loss in their last 13 encounters against this opponent. Despite a mixed start to the season (two wins in 11 league games), Stellenbosch remains favored, especially at home, where stats suggest a tendency for low-scoring games (BTTS No). Sekhukhune also struggles for victories and recently changed coach. Prediction: Stellenbosch win, with 'BTTS No' an attractive bet.

  • Stellenbosch have won 3 of last 4 vs Sekhukhune, strong head-to-head record.
  • Both teams in poor form, but statistical trends favor low-scoring games (BTTS No).
  • Home win for Stellies recommended; Sekhukhune recently changed coaches.

Neither of these sides are in great form but Stellenbosch has a strong record in this fixture. A home win is backed, for safety, draw no bet is another option.

Two Wins in 11 for Stellenbosch

Stellies’ last 11 league matches have yielded just two victories. With five points from five rounds of action, they sit 11th in the PSL table.

They lost 1-0 to Golden Arrows on the opening day before a 3-3 draw at Polokwane City. A 3-1 home win over Marumo Gallants was a key result as Quwan Plaatjies netted a hattrick on debut.

After losing 1-0 at Golden Arrows, Stellenbosch drew 0-0 at Durban City. They put up just 1.05 xG in total across those two away fixtures.

Sekhukhune Struggling for Wins

Sekhukhune United’s final 20 fixtures have seen just four wins. They sit sixth in the league table but sacked their coach, Cedric Kaze prior to their last fixture.

A 2-0 win at home vs Polokwane City was followed by three straight losses to Orlando Pirates. A 1-0 home loss in the MTN8 first leg preceded a 2-0 away league defeat.

A 3-0 loss at Pirates in the MTN8 semi-final second leg saw the coach fired. Sekhukhune’s last match saw a 0-0 home draw vs TS Galaxy.

Predicted Lineups & News

Stellenbosch (3-4-3): Stephens; Nkwali, Msimango, Vena, Lebitso, Palace, Matlou, Mashego; Daniels, Kwayiba, Plaatjies.

Stellies have Given Msimango available to add experience to the defence. Veteran defender Mosa Lebusa is injured.

Coach Gavin Hunt may some changes to his XI. Quwan Plaatjies is set to be recalled after his hattrick three games back.

Teenage defender Luthando Vena is set to keep his place. Tluksani Mthethwa is doubtful in the engine room.

Sekhukhune United (4-2-3-1): Buthelezi; Mashiloane, Ndlovu, Matsimbi, Kazeem; Mkhize, Khupe; Mokhoane, Rammala, Mojela; Ohizu.

Babina Noko are without speedy left back Vuyo Letlapa due to injury. Striker Chibuike Ohizu is available after finally receiving his work permit.

Ngoanamelo Rammala is set to return after missing the last match. Defender King Ndlovu is a question mark for this one.
