Wrexham Inside the Play-Off Places


Wrexham have climbed into the Championship play-off places after going unbeaten in seven of their last nine. Phil Parkinson’s side are sixth in the table and have a one-point advantage over seventh-placed Southampton.

The Red Dragons beat Swansea 2-0 at home before a 3-1 defeat at Watford. Wrexham hit back with a 2-1 win at Sheffield United, where they had 1.28 XG.

Parkinson’s side came back from two goals down and held West Brom to a 2-2 away draw on Friday. Wrexham conceded two first-half goals, responded with 1.89 XG and Josh Windass and George Dobson scored. 

Southampton on a Roll


Tonda Eckert’s Southampton are one point behind Wrexham in seventh place. The south coast outfit are one of the most in-form Championship sides, taking 30 points from 12 games.

The Saints were held to a 1-1 draw at West Brom before a four-match winning streak. An away win at Coventry was followed by home victories against Norwich 1-0 and Oxford 2-0.

Southampton extended their unbeaten run to 15 games in all competitions with a 2-1 FA Cup triumph over Arsenal. Ross Stewart and Shea Charles scored and the Saints had four shots on target and 1.21 XG.

Ben Sheaf recently returned to training following a knee injury. Phil Parkinson provided a positive update on the midfielder’s recovery and said, "Ben's had his brace taken off his knee and we're pleased with his progress.

"He's been able to do straight-line running in training and, touch wood, we'll be taking it step by step, with the next step being twists and turns."
