H2H  - Tractor Boys Have the Edge

Ipswich have a 36-30 advantage against Birmingham, alongside 20 draws.

Ipswich Are Excellent at Home

Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich are the second-most in-form home team in the 2025/26 Championship. They have lost once and won 12 of their 20 matches at Portman Road.

Ipswich are three points off the automatic promotion places following a seven-match unbeaten run. The Tractor Boys have beaten Swansea 3-0 and Hull 1-0 at home during that streak.

The Suffolk outfit drew 1-1 with Leicester and 3-3 against Stoke after the Hull victory. Ipswich bounced back with a 2-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday, where they had 2.74-0.36 XG.

McKenna’s team drew 1-1 at home against promotion-chasing Millwall before the March internationals. Jack Clarke opened the scoring and Ipswich had 1.38 XG before conceding in the second half.

Birmingham Struggling for Consistency

Birmingham are 14th in the Championship and have struggled to break into the top half after some patchy form. The Blues are winless in seven of their last nine, losing five.

Chris Davies’ team are winless in three consecutive games. That downturn in form started with a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United and a 1-0 away loss at Derby.

Another defeat followed on Friday as Birmingham lost 1-0 at home against Blackburn. The Blues were outplayed with 1.09-1.61 XG and conceded the winner with 20 minutes left.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Ipswich (4-2-3-1): Christian Walton; Darnell Furlong, Dara O'Shea, Cedric Kipre, Ben Johnson; Azor Matusiwa, Daniel Neil; Kasey McAteer, Anis Mehmeti, Jack Clarke; Ivan Azon Monzon

Full-back Leif Davis is suspended. Defenders Ashley Young and Conor Townsend and goalkeeper David Button are injured.

Defender Wes Burns and midfielder Marcelino Nunez could return for the Birmingham game. Kieran McKenna issued a pre-match update on the pair and said, "The players coming back from injury, not all have been quite as quick as we would have hoped.

“So it's going to be touch and go, to be honest, for a large batch of them going into Monday. But none of them are too far away and we'll see how the next few days go.”

Birmingham (4-2-3-1): James Beadle; Tomoki Iwata, Christoph Klarer, Jack Robinson, Ethan Laird; Seung-Ho Paik, Jhon Elmer Solis Romero; Patrick Roberts, Marvin Ducksch, Ibrahim Osman; Jay Stansfield

Defensive trio Kai Wagner, Alexander Cochrane and Lee Buchanan won’t feature due to injury.

Verdict

Ipswich have beaten a lot of mid-lower table Championship opponents at Portman Road this season. The Tractor Boys are tipped to beat out-of-form Birmingham on Monday.
