Despite the Griquas sitting atop the Currie Cup table with an impressive four-game winning streak, history and form are on the side of the Pumas for this clash. The Pumas have won their last three matches, including three consecutive home victories over the Griquas, and hold a six-game head-to-head win streak. The recommendation leans toward a Pumas win, capitalizing on their consistent home advantage and recent momentum.

Griquas lead the table but the Pumas are also in very good form, particularly at home. I am backing the hosts.

Tight H2H Contest

The Airlink Pumas have a slight edge over the Suzuki Griquas, with 13 victories to 12, including one draw in 26 meetings in the Carling Currie Cup since 2010.

Pumas Three Wins on the Bounce

The Pumas recorded their third consecutive victory of the season last weekend, beating the Stormers XXIII 29-7 at home after leading 16-0 at half-time.

Before that result, the Pumas lost 26-24 at home to the Sharks in their opening match of the season and 52-29 to the Lions away from home before beating Boland 20-15 away and the Bulls 33-31 away.

The team from Mpumalanga are third in the Carling Currie Cup standings with 17 points after five rounds.

The Airlink Pumas have found some form lately, winning three in a row, and have had success against the Griquas at home recently, recording three consecutive victories, giving them the edge needed to come out on top.

Griquas Top of the Table

The Griquas secured their fourth win in a row in this edition of the Currie Cup last weekend, thrashing the Sharks 55-21 at home after leading 26-21 at the break.

Earlier in their campaign, the defending champions lost 25-19 to the Stormers XXIII away from home in their season opener before thumping the Bulls 56-26, beating the Cheetahs 24-21, and defeating the Lions 31-19 at home, respectively.

The Suzuki Griquas are first in the Currie Cup table with 21 points from five matches.

The Griquas have been performing well, but they have had no success against the Pumas in recent clashes, losing six in a row to their hosts, including by 21 points last season.
