Waratahs vs Brumbies Betting Tips - Tahs' solid home form enough to get Super Rugby win

The Waratahs and Brumbies both need a win to stay in Super Rugby playoff contention. While the Brumbies have a slightly better overall record, the Waratahs have dominated recent encounters and are particularly strong at home. Given the Brumbies' lackluster away performance—losing three of their last four road games—the Waratahs are tipped to cover the +2.5 handicap, boosting their playoff hopes. Both sides have everything to play for, but home advantage and recent form point toward a Waratahs victory.

Both of these Australian sides are in need of a win to remain in contention for the playoffs. However, the Waratahs have been solid at home this season while the Brumbies away form has been rather poor. I am backing the hosts to come out on top.

Key Stats - Brumbies Poor on the Road

  • Waratahs have won 3 of their last 4 matches against the Brumbies.
  • Waratahs defeated the Brumbies by 2 points earlier this season.
  • Brumbies have lost 3 of their last 4 away fixtures.

Waratahs hold Recent H2H Edge

Overall, the Brumbies lead the Waratahs 22-11 in 22 matches but the Waratahs beat them in Canberra earlier this season.

Waratahs Home Form Good

The Waratahs defeated Fijian Drua 50-35 away from home last weekend after a dominant first-half display, leading 36-7 at the break.

The team from New South Wales has had mixed fortunes at home this season. They defeated the Reds 36-12, the Fijian Drua 36-13, lost 59-19 to the Hurricanes, 35-20 to the Blues, and beat Moana Pasifika 29-14 before losing 20-17 to the Western Force.

The Waratahs are 7th in the Super Rugby standings with 26 points from 12 games.

The Tahs gave their play-off chances a boost after their latest victory and must win again to close the gap on the Reds and the Brumbies in the race for the top six places.

Brumbies Disappointing in 2026

The Brumbies secured vital play-off points when they hosted the Western Force recently, winning 32-15 at home after leading their opponents 14-10 at half-time.

The team from Canberra has been inconsistent away from home this season. They defeated the Western Force 56-24, and the Crusaders 50-24, lost 42-27 to the Fijian Drua, and then beat the Highlanders 14-10 before losing 45-12 to the Hurricanes and 30-21 to the Reds.

The Brumbies are 5th in the Super Rugby table with 29 points from 12 matches.

The ACT Brumbies must win to keep on track to make the play-offs, as they are only two points ahead of the Waratahs and one ahead of the Reds. However, they have not been at their best in recent outings, losing three of their last four fixtures, and they have lost three of their last four encounters with the Waratahs.
