Panathinaikos vs Olympiakos Game 2 Live Stream & Tips – PAO to Recover in the Basket League Finals

Panathinaikos's performance in Game 1 suffered from poor rebounding, contributing to their defeat. However, the upcoming Game 2 at their home court, OAKA, is expected to feature a much more intense atmosphere and stronger play from Panathinaikos, especially on the boards. The energy from home fans and anticipated adjustments make a Panathinaikos victory the most likely scenario in this critical matchup.

Match Preview

Olympiakos drew first blood in the Basket League finals and now head to OAKA looking to take full control of the series. Panathinaikos' entire season is on the line as their fans won't accept another disappointment.

Panathinaikos Looking to Bounce Back

The Greens finished 2nd in the Greek Basket League regular season with a 19-5 record and had little trouble in the quarterfinals, comfortably eliminating Mykonos with victories of 99-75 and 90-76.

They advanced past PAOK 2-0 in the semifinals, although the series was far more competitive than the result suggests. Panathinaikos survived a major scare in Game 1, eventually winning 114-102 in overtime behind Mathias Lessort’s 21 points and eight rebounds. Game 2 was also tight before PAO pulled away after halftime for a 102-94 victory in Thessaloniki.

Lack of aggression was the main reason behind their 82-76 defeat to Olympiakos in Game 1, earning just five free throws in the entire match. Rebounding was also disastrous for Panathinaikos, who were outmatched 47-23 on the boards.

Ergin Ataman’s side also endured a disappointing EuroLeague campaign, losing 3-2 to Valencia in the quarterfinals and missing the Final Four tournament hosted in Athens.

Olympiakos Might Have Fitness Issues

Olympiakos cruised past AEK Athens 2-0 in the Basket League semifinals, winning the first match 94-77 at home before delivering an even stronger display in Game 2, claiming a 95-68 victory. Donta Hall recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in that contest.

The Red and Whites made a strong start in the finals opener earlier this week, taking a 12-point lead into halftime before securing an 82-76 victory. Evan Fournier was the top scorer with 20 points, while Nikola Milutinov recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

In late May, Olympiakos defeated Real Madrid 92-85 to secure the EuroLeague title in Athens. Fournier played a huge role in that comeback victory, recording 20 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Verdict

If Panathinaikos had done a better job on the glass in Game 1, the outcome could have been very different. I expect a much stronger response at OAKA, where the atmosphere should be intense. A home win looks like the best bet.
