It’s no secret that Dubai perform significantly better at home and usually struggle against teams that place a strong focus on defense. Zalgiris are unbeaten at home since December, and considering they’ve taken a couple of big scalps recently, I will back them to win in handicap here.
Zalgiris on the Rise
Zalgiris are one of the hottest teams in the EuroLeague right now, claiming four super-important victories and climbing the standings to 6th place with a 21-14 record.
This run started in late March with a dramatic 87-85 win against Real Madrid, followed by two more victories against Bayern 78-71 and Fenerbahce 92-82 in Istanbul to wrap up the month.
The Green and Whites made it four in a row last week at home against Barcelona 83-71 thanks to fantastic paint control (41-30 rebounds). Moses Wright delivered a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Dubai Hanging On
A couple of unfortunate losses are likely to be very costly for Dubai, who enter this round in 12th position with an 18-17 record, one win behind the desired Top 10 zone.
Jurica Golemac’s side delivered an outstanding attacking performance against Panathinaikos in late March but suffered a 107-104 defeat on a neutral court in Sarajevo, which was followed by a dramatic overtime loss to Maccabi Tel Aviv 104-100.
Their playoff hopes were kept alive last week with a 101-91 win against injury-plagued Monaco. Dubai showed great shot selection, converting 27 of 43 two-point attempts. Dzanan Musa was named man of the match with 25 points and 10 assists.
Verdict
Dubai have had a decent run in their inaugural EuroLeague season, but I think their playoff hopes could end on Tuesday. Zalgiris have been in fantastic form recently and could even push for a Top 4 finish, so a home win in a –4.5 handicap looks like the best bet.
