BoomBet.com.au is the new name for SportsBetting.com.au, which has been operating since 1998, making it one of Australia’s longest-running online bookmakers. It is still Australian owned and operated, as well as being fully licenced and regulated by the Northern Territory Government. 

Despite specialising in greyhounds and horse racing, covering both gallops and harness, it also offers a good range of local and international sports betting markets.

Soccer, rugby union, and tennis are three of the other main sports at BoomBet.com.au. 

The soccer category has 15 main options covering some international events and all the major leagues across Europe. The English Premier League, German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A, French Ligue 1, and the Spanish Primera Division are all here, as well as the Australian A-League. There is decent market depth too, with most matches have 40 - 60 unique betting markets.

Rugby Union covers the Super Rugby, the World Cup, and the European Challenge Cup and Champions Cup competitions. These matches tend to have a much shallower market depth however, with only 5 - 15 bets per game. 

The tennis option has choices like the French Open, US Open, and Wimbledon, but will also cover the ATP and WTA competitions. These matches have a similar market depth to rugby, with around 15 wagers for the big games and dropping to around 5 for the rest.

BoomBet.com.au says that it’s aim is to offer competitive fixed odds betting, so we decided to put that to the test. We took a random selection of wagers from the sports mentioned above and compared them to a couple of big-brand sportsbooks. As you can see from the table below the horse racing prices are a little low, but the sports odds are spot on. Of course, this is only a random sample of the markets and may not be representative of the prices as a whole.

BoomBet.com.au Horse Racing Betting Tips & more

Thoroughbred racing is one of the first options in the sidebar and it contains a great selection of race meetings from around the world, including Rockhampton, Chantilly, Turf Paradise, and Vaal. Most will have at least 6 races so there’s plenty of choice to be had. 

When you’ve selected your meeting and your desired race, the betting options will be displayed in the centre of the screen. As well as showing the odds for fixed win, fixed place, middle tote, and VIC place, there is also a fluctuation category that shows the previous fixed-price odds for each horse along with a small line graph representation. In addition to the win/place wagers, you also have the choice of quinella, exacta, and trifecta bets, with some races having extra quadrella and first four options.

BoomBet.com.au Greyhounds Betting Tips


Similar to the thoroughbreds and harness racing, the greyhound category has a huge range of worldwide options such as Albion Park, Mandurah, Wagga, and Daytona Beach. 

The main list of markets is laid out in exactly the same way as the horse racing options, with the flucs listed beside each dog and their fixed win, fixed place, middle tote, and VIC place odds alongside.

The BoomBet homepage is very much geared towards racing fans, with the top runners for the next two races featured prominently in the centre of the screen. The sidebar also has the racing options at the top, with a selection of upcoming races and handy countdown timers beside each one.

Below the racing options are the other sports, and BoomBet has done well to have just the right amount of information on-screen at once. The page doesn’t appear cluttered in any way; all the options are easily accessible and exactly where you’d expect them to be. 

Betting Products


BoomBet has a range of betting products that we really liked the look of. Here are just a few of them:

TopFluc
Short for Top Fluctuation, this is available to eligible customers on Metropolitan and Provincial (domestic) thoroughbred races. It is the best price set by the course bookmakers, and is determined by the Australian Price Network. If a horses’ official fluctuations are 3.0, 4.0, and 3.5, for example, then the TopFluc will pay out at 4.0.

Best Of The Best
This is also only available to eligible customers on Metropolitan (domestic) thoroughbred races with a maximum stake of $250. It guarantees a win dividend which is equal to the highest of the official win dividends paid by Supertab, NSW Tab and Unitab, and the Top Fluctuation. 

Matchups
When there are only 2 outcomes to a wager, i.e. outcome A to beat outcome B, if the matchup is a draw most bookmakers will simply refund your stake. At BoomBet, if a matchup bet is a draw the bet will be paid at half the face value.
