Interbet Review

Established in Cape Town in 2001, Interbet is now a big part of the racing and sports betting landscape in South Africa. Many customers prefer this site due to the variety of TAB tote betting options it serves up for both horse racing and soccer. There are also tote pools available for rugby and boxing at certain times.

Interbet Platform
::

In addition to traditional sports betting, Interbet customers can take advantage of a built-in betting exchange, plus there are multiple lottery draws available, too. The company is licenced and regulated by Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (No. 2000/011570/07). Meaning customers can be assured that this is both a safe and fair online platform to use.

The range of betting categories varies in relation to events that are presently taking place (or that have upcoming and future markets open). At the time of conducting our Interbet review, there were 19 racing and sports being offered.

Interbet Football Betting Tips

Continuing the tote theme into soccer. Interbet offers several different markets in this area, ranging from Soccer 1 up to Soccer 13. Each game is different and so are the minimum stakes. Definitely worth browsing through, as it could mean a better payout than betting on traditional markets.

The soccer zone is where all of the leagues, cups and other tournaments are found. The menu is headed by the Champions League, Europa League and European elite, as well as international events like the AFCON qualifiers and UEFA Nations League. In total there are over 100 different competitions from 40 countries. However, market depth is lacking throughout in comparison to other leading betting sites. Top level matches offer just over 30 betting opportunities such as match result, odd/even goals, correct score, BTTS, total goals, HT/FT, and first team to score. Away from the big names, the less popular leagues that we checked only had 10 - 15 betting markets, which is rather sparse in our opinion.

Interbet Horse Racing Betting Tips & more

There is a tremendous selection of fixed odds betting on local and international horse racing at Interbet, plus it provides live streaming on South African and UK races as well. Each race card has a stack of data, ratings, tips and other essential pre-betting information available which helps to assist your bet selections.

However, it is the huge range of totepools that make Interbet’s horse racing coverage stand out the most. These not only include local tracks but also International totes from the UK and France among other countries. The types of pools open are: Jackpot, Pick 6, Place Accumulator, Exacta, Quartet, Trifecta, All To Come, Double, Pick 3 and Swinger.

Soccer is by far the most popular sport for online betting, but there’s a wide variety of other stuff to keep all bettors interested. Rugby has the European Champions Cup, the English Premiership, Pro 14, NRL and the Super League plus futures markets for the next world cup. Cricket also has an ample choice of test matches and club games. The main US sports: NBA, MLB, NFL and NHL are each covered in great detail, as are tennis, darts, snooker and volleyball among others. Overall, market depth is adequate but not spectacular.

Interbet’s prices could be a bit more generous. Having compared a few random games, it was a little off the pace compared to Sportingbet. However, you do have tote betting and the exchange that are worth checking out to see if you can get a little more value for money.

Interbet Live Betting

A range of sports including soccer, American football, rugby, basketball, baseball and ice hockey are available to bet on in-play. It’s not the most comprehensive in terms of match coverage, but you still get several hundred events every week to enjoy.

There are a good number of betting markets open for live betting - in some cases it’s better than the pre-match offering. The in-play platform is geared up for mobile users. It has a simple design but it provides all that you want, including a match visualisation console and a number of in-game stats.

Interbet Website & Login

Immediately upon opening up the Interbet website, you can see that there is plenty going on. Here is a handpicked selection of the main features you can enjoy:

Exchange Betting Zone

Interbet doesn’t recommend this product to total beginners because it is slightly different to how a traditional betting site operates. The Exchange Betting Zone is a peer-to-peer service where players bet against each other. For instance, Robert thinks Napoli will beat Juventus, so he places a R10 ‘back’ bet on Napoli. However, George doesn’t think Napoli will win, so he does a ‘lay’ against them. So, effectively Robert is betting against George - not against Interbet. It is always worth comparing prices on the exchange against the traditional odds to see where you can get the best value bet.

Interbet numbers

Numbers are lottery-based games offered by Interbet. It features draws from several countries including the UK, Russia, Greece, the USA and of course South Africa. You have multiple betting options such as pick 1 ball, pick the bonus ball, bonus ball high/low and so on. All prizes are fixed odds which are paid out by Interbet.

Interbet Rewards Program

The Rewards Program is a 4-level loyalty scheme offered by Interbet. For every R2.00 you stake on losing bets you get 5 loyalty points. The table below illustrates the number of points required to reach (and stay at) each level:

Level Name
Status Points
Maintenance Points
Additional Points Earned
Club0n/an/a
Silver30,000 - 99,999 in 2 months15,000 points per month25%
Gold100,000 – 249,999 in 2 months50,000 points per month50%
Platinum250,000+ in 2 months125,000 points per month100%

This scheme is only for recreational players - bookmakers and professional bettors are excluded. You can redeem 1,000 loyalty points for R1.00 in betting credits.

To calculate:

  • R2.00 = 5 loyalty points (on losing bets)
  • 1,000 ÷ 5 = 200 (R2.00 bets lost)
  • 200 x R2.00 = R400 lost = R1.00 betting credits

Website/Usability

The web platform is rather old-school compared to some of the more modern betting sites. The home screen gives you an overview of the different parts of the site such as tote betting, live betting, lotto draws and the different sports, but it doesn’t display any markets to instant engage punters.

The head menu makes navigation supremely easy. You have sections for tote, horse racing, soccer and sports. It does get a little clumsy when search through the various soccer leagues as you have to keep returning back to the main hub page to view alternative matches. A breadcrumb type system would make things much smoother in our experience.

Your bet slip offers singles and multiples. As you add selections, it automatically sorts the bet types for you. There is a default stake of R10.00 inserted, which you can keep or change before placing the bet.

Interbet Mobile App

There isn’t an Interbet mobile app to download but it does offer a purpose built mobile betting platform: https://interbet.mobi. It has a straightforward interface with a menu containing tote, in-play, numbers (lotto) and then each sports category. The buttons are nice and chunky and the different markets are neatly laid out to give you an overview of what’s available for each match. To place a bet, just click on the selection, or selections, you want. You’ll see the word ‘bet slip’ flash to show a bet has been added. Once you’ve chosen all your picks, click ‘bet slip’, insert stake or use one of the predetermined bet values offered and hit place bet.
