SportChamps Review
Australian-owned Sportchamps was launched in 2016. It is a new online wagering platform that is aiming to shake up the traditional bookmaker model with the creation of tournament betting.
The aim is to create a new way to wager where you get more engagement for your money and the potential of higher returns. There is also a strong social aspect to the platform which includes a Trash Talk forum where you can brag about a big win or vent some frustration at a dodgy decision which cost you cashing in.
SportChamps Australia Pty Ltd is licenced and regulated by the Northern Territory Government, and for SA residents, its operations are overseen by the South Australian Gambling Codes of Practice.

SportChamps Odds & Markets
Before going in-depth with our SportChamps review, let’s explain the basics of how the platform works for those of you who are unfamiliar with tournament betting.
At SportChamps, you are not betting on a single race, event or outcome. When you enter a tournament, your entry fee is put into the prize pool. You’re then given ChampCash which is the virtual currency you use to bet with throughout the tournament.
The punter who turns their ChampCash into the most by the end of the tournament pockets the lion’s share of the pool. The payouts can be for the top 40% or top 25% (of entrants), or you can play Winner Takes all (WTA) and Double Up tournaments as well. To keep things fair, each tournament has a ‘five bet minimum’ rule, so you can’t rely on hitting one long-shot and pocketing the cash.
Quick guide to getting started
Assuming you have already registered and made your first deposit, here’s what you need to do next:
Enter a tournament
Go to the Tournament Betting Lobby and browse through the list. You have both racing and sports available with a filter to help narrow things down. When you’ve found a favourite, click the ‘Play Now’ button, pay the entrance fee and you’ll get your ChampCash.
Place your bets
The betting markets are the normal ones like you’d find at a traditional bookmakers. For instance, racing offers win and place plus exotic bets such as quinellas, exactas, trifectas and quaddies. You need to place a minimum of 5 bets throughout the duration of the tournament using your ChampCash. The more winners you pick, the higher up the leaderboard you’ll climb.
Get in the money
As you string together a few winning punts, the further up the tournament leaderboard you’ll be. Naturally, the aim is to finish in top spot, but even if you don’t manage that, there are payouts for the top 40% and top 25%. If you really fancy the all or nothing buzz, then try out the Winner Takes All tournaments.
Tournament Types
SportChamps is a proud Australian brand so many of its tournaments have a homegrown flavour to them. However, it still delves into the international sporting arena to deliver even more excitement.
SportChamps Football Betting Tips
With there being no AFL or NRL action happening at the moment, the only other events available are weekly English Premier League and NFL match tournaments, and season-long EPL, NFL and NBA tournaments.
An example tournament is the EPL Round 11 $10 buy-in. Pre-match betting only. You have to place a minimum of 5 bets throughout the round of 10 matches. Each match has numerous betting options such as match winner, BTTS, O/U goals, correct score, first/last goalscorer, draw no bet, HT/FT and many others. You start off with 10,000 in ChampCash and you re-bet your winnings to build up your virtual balance for a place on the leaderboard.
SportChamps Horse Racing Betting Tips & more
At the time of writing this SportChamps review there were 20 ongoing racing tournaments. The best place to start is with the ‘Rookies Only’ tournaments. These are free to enter so there are a great way to learn the ropes before jumping into the cash games. Each one has a guaranteed prize pool of $50 with a top 40% payout. Other tournaments include the $5 Daily Racing Challenge all the way up to the $25,000 guaranteed Racing Cup Day.
SportChamps Live Betting
SportChamps doesn’t offer live betting right now. However, based on our experience, it could take this tournament betting model to the next level if ever it was introduced.
SportChamps Website & Login
The simplicity of this idea results in a very straightforward website which we found extremely user friendly. The homepage is also the tournament lobby area, so you simply need to browse through to find the right event for you. There’s a filter that can be used for buy-in limits, rebuys and duration to make things even easier. You also have tabs for the latest promotions and a series of ‘how to’ guides in addition to the help centre.
Each tournament has an info page which provides the essential details including number of entries, total prize pool, the start and finish times and when the lockout kicks in. The second page contains all of the market details. This is what you can bet on for this tournament and the last page is the current leaderboard.
SportChamps Mobile App
SportChamps can be accessed from any device with an internet connection but iOS and Android owners can download the custom built native SportChamps mobile app. The layout is simple which makes navigation delightfully easy.
The SportChamps app offers the same features such as private tournaments, Trash Talk and live support if you need it. Banking is effortless and the site is HTTPS protected so you can be assured it’s safe to use.
SportChamps Withdrawals & Deposits
The only method to deposit is via credit card or bank transfer (desktop only). It’s a simple enough process and only takes 1 minute to complete so you can start betting instantly.
Withdrawals can only be made once your account is fully verified. It takes between 1 and 5 days for you to receive your cash - something which SportChamps blames on the speed of the banks, not itself.
