Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr Predictions & Tips

Jake Paul is tipped to knock out Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Chavez’s best days are long gone, and he is now an unmotivated and undisciplined low-level fighter collecting paychecks.

Paul is the younger, faster, stronger and more active fighter, and we expect him to overwhelm Chavez to get the job done inside the distance.

  • Jake Paul is on a 5-fight win streak
  • Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is 4-4 in his last 8 fights
  • Jake Paul owns a win over Anderson Silva, who beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr
  • Julio Cesar Chavez Jr was stopped in 2 of his last 3 defeats

Jake Paul Form

Jake Paul enters this contest with an 11-1 professional boxing record, with seven wins coming via knockout.

Paul made his pro debut in 2020 when he knocked out fellow social media star AnEsonGob in the first round, and he followed that up by knocking out ex-NBA basketball player Nate Robinson in the second.

From there he finally started to take on experienced combat sports athletes, although they were all renowned MMA fighters and not recognised boxers.

The 28-year-old stopped Ben Askren in less than two minutes, before claiming a split decision victory over former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.

Paul won the rematch with Woodley via sixth-round knockout, and then registered a unanimous decision victory over MMA legend, and former UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva.

His first outing against a recognised boxer came in February 2023, and it resulted in a defeat as he dropped a split decision to Tommy Fury.

‘The Problem Child’ rebounded with a points win over MMA star Nate Diaz, and then followed that up with first-round knockouts of Andre August and Ryan Bourland.

He made it four in-a-row by knocking out bare knuckle fighter Mike Perry in the sixth, before recording a points win over the legendary Mike Tyson in last year’s controversial bout.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr Form

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is a former world middleweight champion with a professional record of 54-6 (34 KOs) with 1 draw and 1 No Contest.

Chavez Jr made his professional debut back in September 2003, and went unbeaten in 43 fights before finally fighting for a world title for the first time in June 2011.

He took his chance by registering a majority decision win over Sebastian Zbik, and went on to successfully retain the belt three times.

The 39-year-old Mexican sandwiched a unanimous decision win over Marco Antonio Rubio with a fifth-round knockout of Peter Manfredo Jr and a seventh round stoppage of Andy Lee.

Chavez Jr lost the title to Sergio Martinez on points in September 2012, but went 4-1 over his next five fights to set up a meeting with Canelo Alvarez.

He lost that fight with Canelo on points, and although he bounced back with a first-round knockout of Evert Bravo, he quickly returned to losing ways as he was stopped by Daniel Jacobs in five rounds and Mario Abel Cazares in six.

The Mexican briefly stopped the rot with a fourth-round knockout of Jeyson Minda, but he failed to back that up as he lost on points to MMA icon Anderson Silva.

Chavez Jr ended 2021 on a positive note, beating David Zegarra on points, but it would be almost three years before he stepped in the ring again.

He made his comeback last July and beat former UFC fighter Uriah Hall on points in a six-rounder.

Verdict

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr looks good on paper, but he has lacked discipline and motivation in recent years.

Simply put, he is past his prime, so we expect Paul to hurt him and stop him before the final bell.
