Wessel Nijman and Karel Sedlacek have played each other four times on the Pro Tour over the past 18 months, with both players scoring two victories each.
Wessel Nijman Form
Many were expecting Wessel Nijman to take to the Ally Pally stage immediately when he made his second appearance in the World Championships last year. However, the 25-year-old struggled past South African qualifier, Cameron Carolissen in the opening round, and offered no resistance against Joe Cullen in Round 2, losing 3-0.
Nijman struggled during the early part of the year, and suffered early exits in all of the Major tournaments. However, the former Youth Tour prodigy found his feet on the floor in recent months, reaching two quarter-finals, two semis and winning two finals in his last six appearances on the Pro Tour.
Karel Sedlacek Form
Like his opponent, Karl Sedlacek is yet to produce his best darts at the World Championships. "Evil Charlie" has won just once in five appearances on the Ally Pally stage, and suffered a 3-0 defeat to young Rhys Griffin in 2025, averaging just 82.
Having reached the latter stages of just two floor events in his first four years on tour, Sedlacek has enjoyed runs to the quarter-finals in four floor tournaments this year. The 45-year-old also reached the final eight of the World Cup of Darts alongside Czech teammate Petr Křivka, beating China, India and Malaysia before a quarter-final defeat to the Netherlands.
Verdict
Despite underperforming massively at last year's World Championships, I'm confident WESSEL NIJMAN will be too good for his Czech opponent on Saturday.
The 25-year-old beat Josh Rock in the Group Stages of the Grand Slam recently. Nijman took down the likes of Gerwyn Price, Chris Dobey, and Luke Woodhouse en route to winning PC events 30 and 34. I expect he'll have too much firepower for Karel Sedlacek on Saturday.
Only Ross Smith hit more 180s on the Pro Tour than Wessel Nijman in 2025, so backing the young Dutchman to win the Match and hit the Most 180s seems sensible.
