Monte have reached Stage 3 of the IEM Cologne Major, which is far above the initial expectations.
They managed a 3-2 record in Stage 2, beating BIG, Legacy, and paiN Gaming, while losing to G2 Esports and BetBoom Team. This run does not look terrible, as Monte have only lost to two teams who ended the stage 3-1, and they’ve even managed to take down Legacy, who are among the top-10 teams in the world.
That said, Monte have gotten lucky in some of the wins. They had no business beating Monte, and their win over paiN is widely considered a big upset. Monte could be better than expected, but they need to show more before I’ll believe it.

Aurora Gaming are expected to win, and that sounds fair. Even though Monte have made it to Stage 3, they’ve not shown anything inspiring and their performances should not convince anyone that Monte have what it takes to challenge a tier-1 team.
