BIG Are Showing Good Things

BIG have been doing well for their standards of late. They have not won a tournament since April, but have left a positive mark at XSE Pro League in July with a top-eight finish, and even at the Esports World Cup, despite exiting the event in 17th-24th place.

At the Esports World Cup, BIG have beaten Aurora Gaming, and they took a bite out of G2 Esports (1-2) and Team Spirit (1-2). Before EWC, BIG have also accumulated six straight wins during the EWC LCQ, beating ztf, Fluxo W7M, Eternal Fire, Gone, and Sashi Esports.

Although the German squad have yet to prove it can challenge top-tier teams, it has been competitive and typically does well against lower-rated opponents. This should come in handy on Wednesday.

Nemiga Gaming qualified for the IEM Beijing Global Qualifier via open qualifiers, where they’ve beaten TTrick, BC.Game Esports, QUAZAR, and Acend. Since then, they’ve played five more games and won just one.

This is a worrying form, especially considering the four losses came against lower-rated squads such as 1win Team, ex-RUBY, Nuclear TigeRES, and Phantom. Granted, Nemiga haven’t been much more impressive in July, losing to lower-rated teams regularly.

Nemiga Gaming have produced nothing noteworthy this season, especially in recent months, making it hard to believe they have a realistic chance of making it through the IEM Beijing qualifiers.

Nemiga Gaming have been struggling with their form of late, and they’ve not even attended bigger events. As a team who have suffered a few bad beats against lower-rated opponents, Nemiga do not present themselves as a serious threat to anyone – especially not BIG, who have been on the rise.

BIG are by no means one of the world’s best teams, but they have shown that they have some fight in them. Additionally, they’ve had a chance to practice against stronger teams lately, which should make Nemiga an easy obstacle to overcome.
