Scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 16, Call of Duty Championship 2026 is the culmination of the Call of Duty League season, featuring the top eight teams who will battle it out for the lion’s share of the US$2 million prize pool and the world championship title.

Call of Duty Championship is scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 16, with the first four games of the bracket stage. The tournament will run until Sunday, July 19, and conclude with BO9 grand finals.

Call of Duty Championship is the culmination of the CDL season, featuring only the top eight teams who proved themselves throughout the year.
With a smaller field also comes a shorter format, featuring just one double-elimination stage, where all games are played as best-of-five (BO5), except for the grand finals, which are best-of-nine (BO9).
The seeding for the opening games is determined by the teams’ placement in the CDL season, with the season winners facing the eighth-placed squad, runners-up will face the seventh-placed team, and so on.

The defending champions, OpTic Texas, enter the Call of Duty Championship 2026 as the team to beat, having been the most successful team of the 2026 season, ending the regular season in first place, with a 40-12 record and 575 points.

Notably, OpTic Texas have been highly consistent and haven’t placed worse than top-four in any event but the Major 1 Qualifiers (6th). However, they’ve become known to choke in the grand finals, having placed second in Major 1, 2, and 3.
OpTic managed ot break that curse in the final stage of the year, when they won Major 4, with a closely contested five-map victory over the Los Angeles Thieves, who head to Las Vegas as OpTic’s main threat.
Los Angeles Thieves failed to keep up with OpTic this season, but they have been playing extremely well, finishing the CDL season in second place with a 38-15 record and 500 points.
Unlike OpTic, LA Thieves have been far more effective in the grand finals, having won Minor 3 and 4, as well as Major 3. Results-wise, the LA Thieves have been just as impressive as OpTic, after the slow start in Stage 1; however, their loss in Major 4 last month could be an indication that LA Thieves, as good as they can be, might not be in as good a shape as OpTic.
Paris Gentle Mates join the short list of serious title contenders, having shown they have the tools to challenge anyone.
As the fourth-seeded team, Paris Gentle Mates have had a bumpy road this season, mainly throughout Stages 2-3, but following the roster changes and the arrival of JoeDeceives, Gentle Mates turned on their jets and performed admirably well in Stage 4, ending the season with a third-place finish in Major 4.
No list of CDL Championship title contenders is complete without FaZe, who have been highly competitive but never truly emerged as the league’s best team.
They have placed in the top four in the last three Majors, with Major 1 bronze medal marking their most notable accomplishment. While FaZe tend to step it up a notch in big events, FaZe have yet to show they can keep up with OpTic, Gentle Mates, or the LA Thieves, so it’ll be interesting to see where they end up.
